Lovely friendly place to stay.Log fire in living/kitchen area.Quiet rooms, firm mattress so a good night sleep after a long ride.We were giving knowledgable advice by Darren regarding bike rides(he has done them all).It is safe to leave your car at the backpackers and ride from there.

I'm a solo bike traveler and here I found kindness and courtesy. Jane and Darren are professional, capable, and they can give you a lot of suggestions (and shuttling) to enjoy and plan your tramping, trekking in Tongariro National Park. The hostel is clean, spacious, and the living room/kitchen has a beautiful view on Mt Ruapehu. The village of Ohakune... More

We stayed at one of the double rooms with shared bathrooms for one night in december and it was great! Lovely host, spacious kitchen and lounge, located away from the main hub and overlooking the bush. Small and practical room with good matress and linen. Cleab bathrooms. Did not enjoy the outdoor area because it was raining and got there... More

Station Lodge is a big, old, dignified, historical station house with plenty of room. Our obliging hosts made us welcome and lit a fire for us in the charming, comfortable living room. The Lodge has a good kitchen with large frig spaces, which is appreciated very much because many hostels have inadequate, normal, family sized friges. We admired the environmental... More

We stayed in apartment 2 for three nights recently. The weekend rate is way overpriced for this unit, during the week it's down to $110 per night which seemed much more fitting. The unit is fairly new, very clean - apart from a few dishes that looked like they had been used. The bedroom is quite small and there is... More

Couldn't ask for more friendly staff. Building is older but clean rooms. Nice lounge area with massive tv. Rugs on couches. Pretty quiet in October after ski season has finished. Would be a good base for the Old Coach Road bike trail ( there is a spa which I didn't use)

We changed our holiday plans to try get in a day of snow (weather didn't agree though :() and booked the chalet a day before. It was great for our family (2 small kids). Decent kitchen, good shower, very cosy and well appointed. Will probably stay again in future :)

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment in August. Perfect location for heading up to Turoa, and still close to town. Apartment was modern, tidy and clean, and had everything you need to be self-sufficient - cooking facilities, fridge, microwave, even stereo and DVD player. Flatscreen TV and freeview, all was set up on a shelf out of the way, looked... More

We have stayed in the chalets twice, they are fantastic for families. 2 bedrooms, incredibly warm and cosy, private spa pool hot and very clean. 1 out of the 3 chalets does not have a dryer or proper drying room so make sure you ask. Great value, will definitely be staying again. Also the most helpful staff ever at the... More

We stayed in one of the chalets with our two children. We were so impressed with the chalet and how well it was equipped. Everything we looked for was in the chalet. The chalet was modern and beautifully decorated and such a bonus to have a spa looking right at the mountain. Have to also add that having the kids... More
