Lots of places claim to welcome you and help but Susie and Alan really do. Calmly flexed with changed arrangements, booked dinner, great breakfasts, just thoroughly nice people. Great location too: quiet but close to town. Highly recommended.

As part of a 5 week tour of NZ we were lucky enough to stay with Alan and Susie for 2 nights as a base to explore the Tongariro region. They were excellent hosts who gave us essential advice to ensure that we made the most of our stay. The room was very comfortable and the superb breakfasts set us... More

When we arrived we sat down & had tea & banana cake with Alan & Suzie, who chatted to us about our stay before going to our room which was decorated to a really high standard with a great selection of teas and a chocolate each. Our hosts had recommended & booked our restaurant for us and phoned our guide... More

Alan and Susie became instant friends. They were incredible to our family and our needs. We have a son with Special Needs and they did everything to make our stay incredible and his comfort was high priority for them. All of their suggestions for eating and things to do were spot on with what we wanted to accomplish and experience.... More

Very nice B&B in quaint town near Mt Ruapehu volcano. Our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers stayed two nights at this B&B. We were hiking the Tongario Crossing and the town of Ohakune served as our base for that activity. The hosts Alan and Susie were wonderful and the property was first class. We enjoyed excellent cooked breakfasts... More

We were hoping to be getting to Manuka Lodge after an exhausting hike across Tongariro, sadly the weather scuppered this! So instead we got to this home away from homes and had a leisurely tea & cake whilst relaxing. The owners are welcoming & friendly and we really appreciated their tips as we headed up the mountain and finally got... More

We spent two nights at Manuka Lodge which is a lovely new house with spacious, spotless and lovingly prepared rooms and shared lounge area. Alan & Susie are super hosts who booked our transport for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, suggested additional walks, prepared a delicious take away lunch and yummy breakfasts (highly recommend the French toast!!). We took full advantage... More

Perfect spot for a quick 2 day trip to the mountain, wish we could have stayed longer. Friendly, nice house and room, felt like home. Great advice for when the slopes were closed. Awesome spa pool. And breakfast too!! My first time in a B and B - this place has set a high standard.

We stayed at Manuka Lodge for 2 nights earlier this month and were very pleased with the accommodation, the breakfasts and the welcome and friendliness of our hosts, Susie and Alan. The Lodge has clearly been designed with the comfort of guests in mind - we had a lovely ensuite bedroom upstairs at the back of the house overlooking farmland... More

We have just returned from a great three-night stay from 27th to 29th September. The four of us all enjoyed the experience of our well-appointed rooms and especially the calves grazing in the paddock outside our bedroom window! The breakfasts were great as was the conversation and helpful advice on eating-out places and general information. We will surely be back... More
