I booked the Parador as a little luxury for my wife as it was planned as the stop at the end of a long day in the saddle on our week long motorcycle tour. The hotel is palatial to look at and it would seem our room, 218, was in the extension out the back, and overlooked the entrance to... More

Having stayed in other Paradores prior to Avila, I was very disappointed in the Avila Parador. The room was very tired and the air conditioning was not working properly. Someone from reception came up to look at it and said every room was the same, it is therefore obviously in need of an overhaul. We did not have dinner in... More

My husband and I stayed overnight to see Avila at night. Although we were in a standard room, we liked its location in the tower; as a matter of fact, ours was the only room up there. We had a nice view of the roofs and the fields outside the wall. The only concern for some is the fact that... More

We were very disappontrd by this outdated hotel, not high quality throughout and very ignorant personnel in reception. Poor room standard. Nice garden, excellent location and ok breakfast are the only only positives. At checkout tried to charge us 150 eur too much....without giving an excuse. A disaster.

A beautiful building just inside the magnificent walls of this delightful city. Excellent directions to the hotel were emailed, unprompted, in advance. Although the few parking spaces at the hotel entrance were full, reception provided directions to additional surface parking at the back of the hotel. There is an underground garage option too. Our room (219) was a reasonable size... More

This hotel is very well located, adjacent to the wall surrounding the city. Good clean rooms, and a fantastic garden/patio. We enjoyed staying at this hotel. Nothing special to highlight about this hotel.

We stayed 1 night between a Moorish house in the south west with no tourists and a B&B in Madrid! Nice contrast, luxurious, great lunch, upgraded to suite, staff lovely, breakfast like in other paradors tho no cava this time!! Lacked character ... But then we found Avila a bit like that, too perfect to be true.

Situated just inside the City wall, the hotel was easy to find and benefitted from having free parking on site. The bar and restaurant open onto terraces where one can relax and the gardens offer peace and shade. There are quite a number of restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk offering greater value than the hotel restaurant, but many of the... More

This is the third Parador we have stayed in in the last week and they all have two things in common, great architecture and mediocre food. With the buildings that Paradores have it is a terrible shame that the ones we have stayed in have been let down by the menu and the quality of the cooking. Having booked half... More

This Parador was located within the walled part of Avila. The room we had was large and overlooked the quiet garden. The beds were all right (we are still trying to get used to twin beds stuck together which seems to be the European way). It was a good place to stay in order to explore the historic part of... More
