This Parador was another beautiful, historic castle building converted into a quaint hotel. The location was withing the walled city. The breakfast was great as always. The only negative thing about our stay here was the "miserable" guy at the front desk when we checked in. He must have taken his "nasty pills" just before we arrived.

Avila is a very popular tourist destination.. so lots of buses and traffic. The parador is inside the walls of the old town, but directions are well marked. It is easy to find. Unfortunately for older guests, or those with a disability, there are two sets of stairs going in to the lobby. Parking, if you are early enough is... More

we were welcomed at the upper end of Parador welcome standards and given lots of information about best things to see, itineraries and restaurants without having to ask. We had a tower room at the top which was a treat and great value given how little we paid. Location could not be better - easy to find, free parking right... More

Traveling withe friends in Spain, we ended our two-week tour by staying here for three nights. The Parador, located right in the middle of the old town, is just the place to stay is your are interested in exploring the old town or using the Parador as a base for day trips. It is located adjacent to the wall and... More

This was our first stay in a parador. We arrived after driving for several hours through the mountains, and perhaps my wind blown appearance didn't warrant the receptionist's courtesy or attention because we were ignored for a good 5 or 10 minutes. The common areas of the parador are attractive, but the room was not in keeping with this. Decor... More

We stayed here with friends for just one night in July before moving on to Salamanca. It was the first time I had stayed in a Parador but it wont be my last if this is a guide. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, we all slept well in the peace and quiet. It is in a great location... More

This is far from being a bad hotel, but having come to expect something a bit special from the Paradors I was disappointed. The hotel website gives the impression that it is an historic building, but apart from an old tower it isn't really; though it is in a great location just inside the walls of Avila. The room was... After staying at the historical Parador in Siguenza which was beautiful, bad service horrendous food, we thought Avila could only be better - it was worse. It is positioned down a narrow very busy road,it was fairly difficult to find without navigation, and fortunately we had pre-booked gardage parking, otherwise no where you would park an expensive car for 3... We booked this Parador having heard about Avila and we say this is a city not to be missed, totally walled and very attractive. We recommend a tuc tuc tour as it gives one the layout to the city, We stayed two nights to be able to explore the city, the welcome by the reception staff was friendly and the... More

This parador was recommended from a friend who stayed there and was rated highly from Fodors. Our experience was overall good and we would recommend it. There was a Renaissance Fair going on and it was crowded and we were very grateful to have parking for 19 Euro and not the 40 Euro the check-in clerk told us it would... More
