Of all the ( many) historic Paradors I have visited, this one probably comes bottom of the list. Yes, the rooms are clean and reasonably modern but the hotel itself was of little interest. I had booked months in advance and arrived early afternoon so I thought I might get a good room but no. My room overlooked the car... More

The Parador has a good location close to one of the gates of this impressive walled city but lacks a bit the atmosphere, style and feeling of old age luxury so typical of most of the other paradors we have stayed in. The breakfast had a very limited selection even for a Spanish hotel, but the price was somewhat lower... More

So we chose this hotel because every other one we wanted was booked. I am so glad they weren't available as this was a great find. Our room was large with twin four poster beds (never seen that before). The old monetary had been amazingly converted and it is truly stunning. Service is great, breakfast amazing and bar we stocked.... More

Robust, authentic. Entering the gate of this old castle like building, you are met by a night in armour (wearing a skirt underneath his steel). I felt a real manly knight. Most staff friendly. Had some discussions with a gentleman because the hotel couldn't provide an iron?!

What can I say... One beautiful double room for 2 people with excellent breakfast and great dinner included: 140 euro. Charming hotel (it is a Middle Ages building reconverted into hotel), excellent service, cute city... you can never be disappointed when staying at a Parador.

Better than average paradors: good service overall, very quiet room with great views (we had a huge room in the tower – the only room on the top floor, looked more like a junior suite for optimal seclusion), excellent breakfast and great location. Double bed was too soft for our taste and was not very big - a strange situation... More

The Parador de Avila is ideally set within the old city walls. It is a luxury hotel set within a 16th century palace. The rooms are very comfortable with an ensuite bathroom. The restaurant serves good food. Avila boasts the only Cathedral that actually forms part of the city walls battlements. Avila is not far from Toledo or Madrid. For us... More

This Parador was another beautiful, historic castle building converted into a quaint hotel. The location was withing the walled city. The breakfast was great as always. The only negative thing about our stay here was the "miserable" guy at the front desk when we checked in. He must have taken his "nasty pills" just before we arrived.

Avila is a very popular tourist destination.. so lots of buses and traffic. The parador is inside the walls of the old town, but directions are well marked. It is easy to find. Unfortunately for older guests, or those with a disability, there are two sets of stairs going in to the lobby. Parking, if you are early enough is... More

we were welcomed at the upper end of Parador welcome standards and given lots of information about best things to see, itineraries and restaurants without having to ask. We had a tower room at the top which was a treat and great value given how little we paid. Location could not be better - easy to find, free parking right... More
