Visited Sighisoara in July 2015 and tried to find somewhere nice to eat (slightly away from the hussle and bustle of the main square). Burg restaurant looked promising with lovely medieval looking wooden tables outside. We sat and ordered our meals and wine. First of all, after ordering the chef rudely refused to accommodate a slight change in one of... More

The beds are comfortable and clean. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is in an acceptable condition. The staff, which appears to be one single woman, are helpful. She seems overworked though because she has to manage both the restaurant and the hostel. Management needs to look into this.

Despite of so many bad reviews, I do think that this place deserve a little bit of more... ...and of course it is based on my stay there for two nights. Stayed in the private room with ensuite, ready when we arrived and clean. People speak four languages, romanian, hungarian, english and german and I found them really helpful when... More

The room we received was so smelly that we couldn't stay in it.it smelled like sewage .they gave us another room and said that they had a problem with the sewage system. The new room didn't smell bad but was dirty. There were stains of urine on the toilet seat and under the bed there were empty bottles ,as if... More

I stayed only one night while visiting a friend for his birthday. I searched for the best price and found this in the middle of the Burg (Citadel). It was nice and a new experience waking up right there, like in medieval times (note that people still live there, being one of the only inhabited fortresses in Europe). The room... More

There's a thing with hostels where you can say "welllll i didn't pay much, so i can't expect much!" What you should always be able to expect no matter what you pay is warmth, clean sheets on the bed, a toilet light that works, and to feel welcome. Burg Hostel doesn't provide this. Staff sit and smoke using the WiFi... More

Took them 10 minutes to send me and my companions in search of a better place. The location is nice, in the middle of this old medieval burg.Unfortunately the staff barely speak any languages other than Romanian and bits of Hungarian. The room I was offered looked more like a dungeon.Very disrespectful and ignorant folk.Good thing Sighisoara has plenty to offer.

Staff don't seem to care at all about their guests; receptionist guy looked utterly bothered when we asked for connection to Cluj and even though he found them online, he didn't engage in a conversation whatsover. There is no common area/ lounge, only a restaurant so it's not easy if you're a solo traveller wanting to meet people. Place is... More

For us as a family it was good for a couple of nights. I wouldn't recommend for solo travellers looking to make friends. Decent beds and the rooms and bathrooms were clean, but there was an awful smell coming from our bathroom that would fill up the whole room if the door was left open. Decent restaurant attached which is... More

Burg Hostel is situated in the heart of Sighisoara. we really enjoyed our stay there as it was easy to move around and see the sights. We were also very lucky to get a big room to ourselves. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The staff was very helpful in organising taxis for us. Overall a great experience There... More
