I was 1st put off that we were booked so far away from Sapa but after night on the train from Hanoi to Sapa and walking through Muong Villages - we found Topas to be a perfect place to relax, enjoy the quiet and enjoy the fabulous views.

Good : away from the big city, clean, peaceful. Nicely constructed -minimal yet delightful. Smiling and helpful staff, great hikes and lovely air Sad: doesn't seem much effort done to engage arts and crafts from local villages, theres is a small shop with stuff but don't know if it's fair trade or another revenue generator for the hotel. Large group... More

We stayed at Topas for 2 nights and just like the other reviewers say the views are amazing. We had a lot of fog but when the sun came out, the view was breathtaking! We stayed in bungalow 301 which had a view of the mountains and valley below. The bungalow is sparse: no TV, no phone, space heater, plugs... More

Topas is situated about half an hour outside of Sapa town...and if you're wondering whether or not you should stay in Sapa town or outside, I would recommend staying away from the town. It's a bit of a tourist/backpacker trap; not very attractive compared to the surrounding mountainous vistas. That being said, Topas is a gem nestled on a peak... More

This place is beautiful! The staff are friendly, helpful and its a peaceful and relaxing retreat. We celebrated a family members birthday and were treated to a cake and staff members coming out to sing "Happy Birthday!" Also very relaxing having no tv and phones. Would've been perfect here with no fog but thats something that can't be helped!

What a wonderful place to be after a night on the train. You don't even need to leave the hotel, just sit back, relax and take in the views and breath in the air from your bungalow perched on the edge of the mountain. To top it off this hotel is environmentally sound and working with the local community. Lovely... More

I had a recent overnight stay with my husband and we wish we had stayed longer. The "greeting" from the local hill tribe women was a wonderful experience and we didn't feel harassed at all. The scenery is spectacular and the bungalow, with its verandah hanging over the hillside, was all we had hoped for. There may not have been... More

Having taken the overnight train to Lao cai and driven to sapa (arrived around 5.30am and 1c) we spent the morning walking through the beautiful the local villages. We then wandered up to a little slice of heaven - the Topas ecolodge. A beautiful hill top location with views across the vallies. Given the location the facilities, during our stay,... More

Sapa is a backpacker town, Topas Ecolodge is a relaxed getaway in the mountains. We stayed for 7 days and went to Sapa for one day. The hikes offered at the travel desk were really over priced for a family but looked appealing. We hiked on our own around the Red Zao people's trails. The ladies at the road selling... More
