We spent quite a bit of time researching Alaska lodges, with numerous searches, reading reviews, etc. etc. After all of that, Winterlake stood out as our top candidate for a visit. We were not disappointed. Note that arriving there is subject to weather suitable for the float plane you take to get there. The helicopter shuttles to any number of... More

Yes, we could have learned to fly fish back here in New Zealand, but why not go learn in Alaska!! And no better place than Winterlake Lodge!! Our float plane landed us at the lodge jetty where we were welcomed by McKenzie and Tony (lodge managers) and the team, we were promptly settled in to our cabin and off on... More

2 couples from Arizona and 2 from Texas spent the greatest 4 days ever at this place!! We call it 5 STAR RUSTIC.................. The food was amazing. Note - diet before going. Fabulous chefs!! Tony and McKenzie, the Managers, did a wonderful job. The helicopter experiences to fly fishing and river rafting were fabulous. Save enough $ do to both!... More

There are certain places that stay with you long after you unpack and go back to your day-to-day routine. Winterlake Lodge is one of those places. From the architecture and furnishings, hospitality crew, wilderness guides, dog handlers, and last – but not least – the food; Winter Lake Lodge is a top-notch experience staffed by professionals who love what they... I've waited months to write this review because I've been searching for words adequate to describe our experience; alas, I fear I have failed. The entire staff at Winterlake were so exceptional that the experience itself is the only way to appreciate them. Everything from the three chefs preparing gourmet meals daily to the behind the scenes front-of-house employees were... More

Wow, what an amazing trip! We spent five days at the Winterlake Lodge, as the first guests of 2015. We were part of a http://ttlalaska.com Photo Trek with famed photographer Jeff Schultz, covering the Northern Lights 300 Dog Sled Race. The entire stay (and Photo Trek!) was superb. The flight in from Anchorage was a bit bumpy, but landing on... More

Words can not describe this place or the people - welcoming , professional staff that make you feel like you are at home. For some it is their home and they are generous to share it with those that come to stay. Great food , fantastic scenery , bears. Husband got some spekky photos to complete out trip - no... More

We got married at Winterlake and it was PERFECT! The staff was fantastic and the cabin couldn't have been better! Yes, it is a lot of money but TOTALLY worth every dollar. We have new lifelong friends who made our big day special. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We can't wait to return. To celebrate our 5th anniversary!

I simply can't say enough about Winterlake Lodge and the Dixon-Potgeiter families and staff. It was the trip of a lifetime for us, and we have traveled to some amazing places. The absolutely beautiful cabin, the food, and the pristine environment would be enough on their own, but the owners and staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and tailored experiences to our... More

WE are a family of four with 2 children age 9 and 11. We wanted to go off the beaten path and see the true Alaska. When I first booked our trip to Winter Lake Lodge I was a bit overwhelmed by the expense in staying at Winter Lake Lodge, but in hindsight I can say it was worth every... More
