You won't find another place with a view out your cabin window like this. Other viewers well document this location and what it looks like. It's too bad that the entire facility shows marginal maintenance and is in poor repair. My wife with the good nose felt the cabin "bathroom" area with the chemical toilet wasn't particularly clean, and everything... More

Excellent stop for coffee and desert, nice atmosphere and view, coffee and food good and service excellent. Conveniently located and adequate parking, no waiting in line. Cozy fireplace running if it happens to be cool out.

We knew what we signed up for so was had an amazing time. No running water in the cabins, no TV's, no shower. It was amazing!!! We only stayed one night but that was enough time to take in the views and check out the Independence Mine. The place is simply spectacular. Great pit stop along our 13 day trip.

If you don't mind a chemical toilet and no running water then this is the place to stay! Really! Although the cabins could use some updating you can't beat the view. We stayed there one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. As we arrived there were a few people parasailing. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant--both meals were delicious.... More

Highlight of our trip. This place is beautiful beyond words. We discovered a magical place that is off the main tourist map in Alaska. We love the outdoors and are used to camping and cabin stays. Yes the cabins are very rustic but they fit in perfectly with the area. The main lodge is a comfortable, casual, welcoming place with... More

We stayed here for a day and I have to say I loved the view and the hike to the mine above it. The lodge has a rustic ski look to it and the girl behind the desk and kitchen was very nice to say the least. We were there when NO ONE else was and stayed in cabin #5... More

We did not get the opportunity to stay here so I can't speak to the lodging. However, we did get to eat at the lodge restaurant. Granted it is rustic but the food was good and the views are awesome. The wine cheese fondue was excellent. I usually make and have it with beer but next time I'll make it... More

I have to say, don't let the terrible reviews stop you from staying here. If you are looking for skiing, sledding, hiking, etc, right out of the front door of your cabin, then this is the place for you! As previous posts have mentioned, this is a rustic, wilderness lodge. The lodge itself is quaint. When I am here, I... More

First, before reading too much into the other reviews rating Hatcher Pass Lodge as 'terrible' or 'poor', one needs to keep in mind that Hatcher Pass Lodge is a lodge located in an Alaskan mountain pass, running off of generators, and it's meant to be rustic. You don't come to this place looking for the most pristine, luxurious of settings.... More

Okay just got back from a second stay, my opinion is not swayed but strengthened. First the setting is proof of god. Second and more importantly what many reviewers don't seem to get, this is a wilderness lodge!! This is not the hotel it is a no frills rustic lodge that, has had little done to it over the years...
