We have stayed at the Westmark Baranof many times. It rarely changes and, in Juneau, that's okay with us. The furnishings are looking dated and the front desk service depends on the person, but it is reliable and clean. The hotel restaurant, The Gold Room, is still very nice with excellent seafood. The sign in the lobby at the end... More

The hotel is not up to par, nor is it anywhere near the quality it was twenty years ago. The Baranof used to be the center of fine lodging and cuisine in our state capital. It seems to have deteriorated like the area around it in appearance as well as staff knowledge and service.

This is supposed to be one of the better hotels in Juneau, and that’s a sad statement on Juneau. The location is good and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful, but otherwise I can’t say anything positive. Paper thin walls so we could hear the conversations in the next room. Very uncomfortable bed and dim lights in the... More

Pros: great location for walking through downtown Juneau. Good access to a couple of restaurants, excellent if you want to shop in jewelry stores and tourist-ee shops. Old building wherein you can see the history through woodwork, glass doorknobs, and rippled flooring. Restaurant attached for breakfast and lunch. Rooms well decorated and clean. Beds comfortable. Cons: NO place for parking... More

I had a hard time determining whether the Westmark Baranoff or the Goldbelt Hotel in Juneau would be better. The Baranoff was hands down better. The breakfast was great. The rooms and the hotel are not fancy but comfortable and in a great location. The Baranoff has a bar and restaurant and some atmosphere; the Goldbelt was barren. The Baranoff... More

This was my third stay at the hotel and I really love most everything about it. The staff is friendly, the rooms are large and clean and the food is very good. It also has a perfect location to stroll around downtown Juneau. The Bubble Room Lounge is a perfect bar and if you are lucky to be there on... More

Stayed at this hotel for one night prior to catching a flight early next morning. Pretty much agree with other reviewers in that it is dated but can see that it would have been the very best around in its time. Room was clean enough and the bed was comfortable. I had a room on the eighth floor away from... More

Really liked the location able to walk everywhere. Front desk people really helpful and very nice. Lounge staff not so helpful or friendly. Café we ate breakfast in was alright, staff was very friendly BUT food was not hot. Housekeeping staff not so good had to ask for coffee everyday and they never gave us clean cups. We had to... More

Well, cool old historical building in desperate need of renovation. Lobby, bar, restaurant all musty, worn out and gloomy. Our room was pretty much the same, a bit on the dirty side with leftover coffee in the coffee pot that looked many days old. Folks that ate in the restaurant said that the service was very slow, food was ok.... More

As the locals will tell you, the Baranof is the grandest hotel in Juneau. Of course, everything is relative. There is not a lot of competition for "grand" in Juneau. Most travelers will find the Baranof well past its prime, but the future may be bright. The hotel is undergoing a bit of renovation, an undertaking that is not quite... More
