I stayed in two different rooms and both were noisy. Car noise, clomping feet, voices, car doors, long term residents returning from a party and yelling outside my door. Definitely don't stay in the cheap rooms on the first floor. For $20 less u get gross carpet, old linoleum in the bathroom, saggy bed, hairs on the bathroom counter and... More

Recently stayed art the Prospector Hotel and had a delightful experience. Our room was quite traditionally Alaskan:Large with walk-in closet & bonus closet, two queen beds and fridge/microwave; balcony for each room. Very fun / great staff. Dark drapes helped block the light when the sun is up so early. Restaurant food is delicious with great assortment of meats and... More

Disappointed in this accommodation best part was walking location to town. No bag person after long flight, greeted by person with DOG on the desk. Not shown to room and given key with wrong number. Went for dinner and they did refund uncooked fish both meals were over cooked on outside!! Not a good welcome.

This hotel is located right at the sea front sitting pretty on the harbor facing every cruise ship coming in. Be warned, the staff are super friendly and you'll miss them the minute you leave. The rooms however are left seeing better days.... from them prospector days. Beds are clean but the rooms are old and dreary. That means, go... More

This is not meant to be a five star hotel (as the price is more reasonable than other choices). The location was perfect! We walked downtown or to dinner several times. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is older, but fine. The rooms are big. Beds were comfortable. They brought us extra linens & even a fan. We were... More

We had a double Queen room that was quite large. It had a fridge and microwave but no plates or cutlery. The beds were comfortable. The curtains could be closed sufficiently to properly darken the room. The bathroom was "standard" except that the shower head minimised water consumption ( which is good or bad depending on your view ). The... More

I booked a double queen room in this hotel months in advance through Expedia. Unfortunately, when I got there, I was given a room in much need of deep cleaning and remodeling. Oily worn out chairs with crumbs on them, torn and dirty carpet, and hair in the bed sheets. Yuck. We checked out and went to Baranoff. Much better... More

This Hotel is just a short 5 minute walk from downtown, or if you wanted to take the inexpensive local city bus it stops only a block away, if you take the Mendenhal Valley bus, it stops near the Mendenhal Glacier, Glacier Gardens, Fred Meyer department store or Walmart. Prospector it 's an older hotel that has been looked after... More

I realize this is Alaska, but this hotel needs some serious spiffing up. The rooms are small and dingy with decor firmly entrenched in the 70s. Very few electrical outlets. Woke up with a couple of bites from something on my right leg. But the restaurant had good service and good food. Probably won't be my first choice if I'm... More

Cons: Rock hard bed, I'm talking as soft as a pool table. Crappy view of parking lot from my room. Lots of construction noise from next door (project will be done Spring 2016). One morning when trying to leave the hotel I found my truck had been blocked in becuase the hotel painted their driveway. I had to walk to... More
