Dave, the owner of the Chilkat Eagle B & B is an extremely knowledgeable individual and knows the history of Haines AK.. A previous professional fishermen off the waters of Haines, AK., he shares his knowledge with those that take the time to listen and is willing to take you to places or give you suggestions on where to visit.... My friend and I were in Haines on our way to Skagway and stayed here one evening. Dave is a very nice and friendly host, who is also very knowledgeable on the area. My only problem with the B&B was the clutter downstairs and on the porch. We stayed at many places in AK, Yukon & BC so we know... More

Every other place in town was over $100 for my boyfriend, dog and I to stay. Dave offered $70 a day and said we would do our own meals. I figured at that price it would be a little more like a hostel and it was. I did not find Dave creepy at all. Maybe the other people who reviewed... More

I just read the negative reviews left by a few visitors and all I can say is what a bunch of wooses. Chilkat B&B is warm, dry, and comfortable, with a 24/7 fireplace going in the living room and an open kitchen where you have free reign to concoct whatever you want. Dave, the host, has gone out of his... More

Well I'd like to echo a lot of the other writers but I will include some good here too; for the record my wife choose this place I wanted a cabin. We arrived very late say 11 pm after a 16 hour drive from Anchorage, so frankly we had low standards unfortunately that is what we got. After a short... More

There was water damage on the ceiling in our room. It leaked when it rained. The bathroom is coated in mould. It smells like there's dead animals inside. There's clutter everywhere. There's no breakfast (thank goodness!). And the owner (although nice enough) is incredibly creepy.

I can't believe that the Alaskan Tourist Board would allow this property to be classified as suitable for guests to stay. I have been unable to rate it. The overwhelming, pungent, odorous stink inside the house because of it being closed up & full of uncleanliness for years is just nauseating & very unpleasant. The house is in a state... More

Was in town with my fiance for my sister's wedding, and as a town I enjoyed Haines, but I did have more locals guide to what to do and where to eat then a normal tourist would. I'd recommend taking a day trip from Skagway to do a float trip or glacier tour instead of staying in Haines; or come... More

It is very to bad that this place is falling apart. Well located downtown Haines this place is literally crumbing down, part of the ceiling in bedrooms are flaking off and Black mold in the upper washroom is insalubrious, old and long extension cord plug into each other to bedside lamp...fire hazard. Humidity smell all over the place. Old saggy... More

The bed an breakfast is not a bed and breakfast. It is a bed - no breakfast. The dining room table was covered with items hidden by a sheet. The owner is a horder and the place was a mess. There was a path to the room, though. There was no shower. I had to take a bath with a... More
