We agree with everything the other reviewers have written and will discuss our experience from a different perspective. Fifty years ago, we were young newly weds living in Haines, where I was working as a geologist. Each evening we drove out to the Chilkoot River to go fishing. In those days, the drive was on a narrow dirt road. Today... More

I knew from the moment we got here that it was going to be special. This B&B is set amongst the lush forest on the bluff overlooking the Chilkoot river. As we were bringing our luggage into the room we looked out the picture window to see a brown bear fishing in the river below. The room is very comfortable... More

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful lodge! Watching the brown bears on the river was an experience that was exhilarating and beautiful. The room eas immaculate, specious , and comfortable. The owner went more than the second mile to accommodate our party. Definitely on my list to return to again and soon.. M Gregory

nice place to stay, just a few miles from the center of Haines and the ferry. From the shady porch (shared by all the 3 rooms, but each has it´s own sets of seats and table) a lovely view to the river and mountains. Very quiet and lovely. Large, clean rooms with great bed, coffeemaker, microwave, fridge and wifi. We... More

Haines was our 3rd stop while doing the Circle Route, and this property was by far our favourite. The lodge sits on a bluff directly overlooking the Chilkoot River. The rooms are very nicely appointed with beautiful quilts on the beds and furniture that is in very good shape. Polished colored concrete floors add to feeling of cleanliness in the... More

we were lucky to have two nights in this unbelievable b&b just above the grisly bear salmon hunting spot, in the chilkot natural reserve near haines alaska. not surprisingly it should be booked a year in advance!

We thoroughly enjoyed the nice clean rooms and beautiful unsurpassed location of this lodge. Relax and enjoy the sights of eagles, bears and salmon passing along their paths on the lovely Chilkoot River. Feel yourself decompress and be part of the beauty surrounding you.

We stayed here for 5 nights in early July 2013. Though we were a little too early to see bears we absolutely loved this place. We will try to go back again later in the summer sometime to see bears. The actual accommodations are great. . . Microwave, fridge, coffee maker. Bed linens were very nice, bed was comfortable. Sitting... More

We got to Haines in late June and early July and stayed at the Chilkoot River Lodge for 4 nights. The weather was cloudy/grey/wet for 3.5 days of our 4 day stay and we did not see one bear (and let me tell you I drove all over the place) BUT we still loved the CRL! The Lodge sits on... More

We were 3 generation family from age 9 to 71 touring Alaska on our own. We did the Golden Circle (one of National Geographic's 500 most beautiful drives in the world). This was the 2nd to last night in beautiful Country. We thought the trip could never get better, but it did with our overnight at Chilkoot River Lodge. We... More
