The hosts make the visit. Laura met us when we arrived and got us settled in. You eat breakfast essentially in their own residence as they visit with you, provide fresh fruit salad, muffins, pancakes, sausage, coffee and OJ. We enjoyed talking with Byron as he prepared breakfast as he had some very entertaining stories to share. Their family and... More

Laura and Byron are the consummate hosts. It was great being able to get to know the area through their eyes. Their BnB is more than adequate for a travelers needs. The rooms are extremely clean and well equipped. The French toast, sausage, cinnamon muffins, and fresh fruit were all delicious! Thanks for a great stay! This would not be... More

Really comfortable at this B&B top floor room with great views out to snow covered mountains even in June!! we had exceptional weather but the view from the breakfast room made my day and it just got better from there. Breakfast cooked by Laura was wonderful homemade sausage.

Byron and Laura were great welcoming hosts, and make an awesome breakfast. The view of the harbor from the front room and deck are fabulous. It is an easy walk to town. Hosts provide transportation to the ferry. The only negative was getting sandwiches at the fish trailer nearby; only 1 of our 8 pieces of "salmon" were pink, the... More

This is the perfect place to stay in Haines! I have stayed in B&Bs all over Alaska and A Sheltered Harbor is a good one! They came and picked me up at the airport, gave me a nice clean room with a flat screen TV and private bathroom (I stayed in one of the smaller rooms). You get your own key with anytime access to your room which is... More

Adequate but not special. Stayed 2 nights. Good location. Plain comfortable rooms but somewhat loud and no blackout curtains which would be nice in the summer. Pretty clean except for a cobweb or two in our room. Breakfast was the same each morning and was disappointing and plain. Pancakes from a mix, syrup from a bottle, cereal and toast, powdered... More

This is an authentic seaside B&B in a perfect location with wonderful husband and wife hosts who ensured our stay was memorable. Their local knowledge of the area was priceless and the hospitality was like staying in a friend's home. Waking up to the smell of fresh muffins and hot coffee looking out at the emerald water and the backdrop... More

We are a family of 6 that stayed at the Sheltered Harbor in early August 2012. Our impression of this B&B was good. Laura was our contact and she was very nice. It is not fancy from the outside, but the rooms are clean. There are some basic rooms (which we used) and some larger nicer rooms. Laura and her... More
