My wife son and I spent 2 delightful days in Haines staying at the Captain's Choice. The facilities are a bit dated, but very clean and serviceable. Hey this ain't Seattle! The views from the deck are the best. We saw many bald eagles (9 at one time) circling overhead and sitting on the nearby trees. The staff was very... More

We arrived by cruise ship and rented a car for the day to drive along the Haines Highway. Got a Ford Expedition with about 150k and some good size dents (so they didn't worry too much about that sort of thing). Price was good. Paperwork was fast. Windows a bit dirty, but we took care of that. They will pick... More

The room was clean, and warm. Bar was nice, friendly bartender. Parking is very limited for large vehicles, which was a bit of an issue for us, but if you're driving a regular car or truck I imagine it would be fine. Although I recommend calling ahead if you do have a large vehicle to avoid the otherwise polite front... More

This a great place to stay in Haines. Walking distance to anywhere in the middle of town. Everyone there is so friendly. The view from the property is amazing. I enjoyed the nighttime ambiance in the bar as well. Room was clean and pleasant. One thought: breakfast. Didn't enjoy the Styrofoam cups for coffee or juice. And would prefer milk... More

We arrived in Haines about 5 pm on Sunday evening. The reception staff was very friendly. The rooms were very clean although a little worn. Beds were comfortable and the view is fantastic. They had good suggestions about places to eat since many of the restaurants are closed in winter.

we stayed one night. The carpet was old, worn and completely filthy. The bathroom was so dirty I had to get some cleaner and clean it myself before we could use it. Hair and dirt all over it. Disgusting and I will never stay here again. I even took a picture to prove it.

Stayed here 5 nights during photography trip for eagles in November 2014. Location/Motel: Haines is a small town and the Captains Choice is located in the central downtown area near local businesses, shops, restaurants, bars and grocery store. The motel itself is comprised of three separate buildings with the main building and lobby also housing the bar (Captain's Lounge). See... More

When you enter Captain's Choice, you immediately see the reception area and the bar (also used for breakfasts). To get to the rooms, you go downstairs. The rooms are a bit musty and dark, the size of the room is fine, but what is really good is the wonderful view.Breakfast was coffee and a packaged muffin. By the 2nd morning... More

We were charged $140 for this room. It was awful. Hair in the tub, baseboard hanging off of the tub, chairs that were stained beyond belief and lumpy, and a mattress so worn out, I literally could not stay in the bed. I kept slipping out. I complained the next morning when we decided to check out. The front desk... More

The Captain's Choice Motel was a very nice place to stay in Haines. The room was VERY spacious and had a wonderful view of the mountains. The staff was very helpful, even picking me up from the ferry. Since my husband had been called away on business, I invited a friend whom I had met on the ferry to stay... More
