We were walk-ins, there because it is the closest place to the Russian River Campground where the salmon and bear abound. We got the last cabin #8. We were told it was up the hill, past the tower. Up there we found cabins on trailers with no steps... Open to adventure, that still looked a little too much... Fortunately, we... more

We were fooled by the website and what my husband was told over the phone. We stayed for one night only and that was only because we were tired and desperate for sleep after fishing all day. It look's nice and cozy from the outside but OH NO! The cabin stunk like fish, had spider webs COMPLETELY covering the ceiling... more

I can't vouch for the lodge, but Gwin's makes the best smoked salmon chowder in the world! We have stopped for it many times & many of us rave about it. Yum!! They will even give you a copy of the recipe. more

You do not want to go there. Among the MANY things that have gone wrong there, the water used in the cabins, restaurant, store, and employees tested positive for Giardia, and the owner didn't warn people. He actually kept the restaurant open and could have possibly infected hundreds of unknowing customers. You don't wanna risk staying there. The cabins are... more

11 Buddies form NJ just spent a week at this dump. Flew 3800 miles to alaska expecting a little more. The web site shows well kept cabins, not the case. Told that we had the larger upper and lower cottages because of the size of our party, turned out to be the oldest ,most run down 2 story shack on... more

My husband and our friends spent a weekend plus scoping out our first Alaska vacation. We looked at several options and narrowed it down to Gwin's Lodge. We realized that it was not a "perfect" holiday getaway but it was centrally located and it was, Alaska, after all. We stayed there for five nights and, frankly, we would not have... more

Travelled to Alaska and booked three nights at Gwin's. Our cabin was filthy and needed many repairs! Didn't even have a door handle or lock on sliding door. I watched one of the maids go into a cabin to make ready for the next guests and I timed her at 15 minutes for a complete cleaning - no surprise to... more

I had been coming to the lodge for several years each fall and had a decent time. I didn't expect much and got about as much. It was very hands off but I was comfortable. The place has progressively been going down hill each year. My last stay this passed October is certainly the last. I had paid for a... more

We did not stay at the hotel, but had a meal at the restaurant. We were ignored by the waitress. Was reading the newspaper & was put out because we had to constantly interrupted her. Got attitude when requested roll with/ soup. Most tables were not bused w/ few customers. Had to sit in bar which needed a good cleaning.... more
