Fantastic location and excellent value for money. If your looking to disconnect from a fast-paced lifestyle and turn the mobile phone off...this is the place to do it. Small and well-appointed beach huts (with outdoor shower & shared toilet). Currently managed by the lovely Trevor and Tracey. Make sure you take up their offer to go on their half-day snorkel... Kia Orana Thanks for your feedback and your positive review. You would never have to force me to take guests out on a lagoon tour. No matter how many times I venture out into the lagoon it is always breath taking. It truly is the best lagoon in the world, the perfect place to snorkel. The water is just so... More

Tracey and Trevor were perfect hosts, and the beach hut was a romantic idyll. The outdoor shower and shared toilet only added to the experience. Bring your own food - the kitchen facilities are awesome, and you can save money. Force Trevor to take you out on the snorkeling tour, and don't stay anywhere else.

Hi Thanks for the feedback. Glad you like the Coral hut, it does have a large kitchen and with all the utensils and everything you need. A lot of people these days like to make their own food, it helps knowing exactly what goes into your meals. As well as keeping costs down. For those that can't there are some... More

Four lovely, cute, ramshackle beach huts which are rather small, showers are outside, toilet is shared and all looks a bit makeshift and cobbled together. This is not a stylish resort for sure. If that's what you want look somewhere else. But if you want a great price, fantastic location, genuine, friendly hosts and a real island experience then go... More

Our family of five were very fortunate to have 18 days on Aitutaki staying at Matriki. From the day we arrived to the day we left Tracey and Trevor were excellent hosts. The huts are comfortable and clean and right on the beach, the outside toilets are also very clean and well maintained. The Matriki area is immaculately maintained by... More

Yes, the pictures you have seen are real, but they could not possible capture how special Matriki is. No photo could do this place justice! We found Matriki on TripAdvisor and immediately adjusted our vacation to spend the majority of it here. We fell in love the moment our plane flew over this stunning island. Tracey and Trevor are two... More

Hi Thanks for your review. We very graciously accept your comments and thank you for recommending us to others. We didn't stay at Matriki Beach Huts, so I can't comment on the accommodations, but we did go on the snorkel trip they offer. The snorkel trip was amazing. The day was filled with snorkeling at some amazing spots. The difference with Matriki is that he goes to spots that are not necessarily on the itinerary of the other tour... More

My wife looked at the photos of the huts and said eeek ! your taking me to stay with Robinson Crusoe!. But what a pleasant 9 days it was. The huts are right on the beach which has Coral as good as any on the island 10m offshore. They & the toilets are kept very clean by Tracey & Nga... More

I came to aitutaki to relax, snorkel and have a real Pacific island experience. This was the perfect place for all of it. Simple but clean and homely huts, just on the beach with beautiful snorkeling spots all around. Very helpful and nice hosts giving me tips on the best shops and places to go on the island and helping... More

Staying in matriki is not like staying in a western cocoon of a resort where you experience nothing of island life.... Trevor and Tracey at matriki really made our holiday in aitutaki. We stayed for 8 nights and by the time we left we could feel the pulse of the island. We were truly involved in island life. Trevor and... More

After travelling for a few years, how many hotel suites, motel rooms or backpacker hostels do you really remember ? Probably not many. That said, I wouldn't mind betting that, after a few nights at Matriki Beach Huts, your memories will become indelible and will remain with you for years and years and years . . . Matriki Huts is...
