I visited the Hawaiki Nui on Raiatea for one week in late February 2015. The hotel is located within walking distance (15 minutes) from Uturoa, the second-largest town in French Polynesia. I stayed in a garden bungalow, therefore I cannot say anything about the over-the-water bungalows which, however, did look nice. Other visitors reported termite infestations, slimy pool, inedible breakfast,... More

We traveled with friends to French Polynesia and stayed here the first two nights before getting on a Moorings boat for a week. We stayed in the overwater bungalows which were pretty cool. It's nice to wake up and be over the water but we also happened to be there when a large group of bareboaters were so they were... More

We stayed four nights at the Hawaiki Nui in late October 2014. After the long flight from Alabama through LAX to Papeete, and then to Raiatea, we stepped into our overwater bungalow and found it so peaceful and relaxing that the jet lag almost immediately began to seep out of us. I don't remember the room numbers. Ours was the... More

Great spot with a nice swimmingpool. We just went here for a short visit during a hot day to get some icecold lemonade. It is really nice that you can enter this hotel while not sleeping there. The staff was very nice and did everything to make is feel comfortable.

We stayed in bungalow 22. These units are infested with termites. We turned on the lights about midnight and found them feasting above our heads. The mosquito netting kept them out of the bed, but they tried their best to get in. These units also do not have air conditioning. Breakfast was good, but the ants had a penchant for... More

the much touted renovation has not happened and it is still very run down and nothing works in the rooms. We stayed in a "premium" over water bungalow but the lights didn't work on our viewing window so we couldn't see anything. The fridge didn't get anything cold etc.. etc.. The swimming pool was still unserviceable so although we didn't... More

Rooms are lovely, staff is amazing and location is just a bike ride away from town. We had an over water balcony and it was pure bliss to wake up in the morning and sit on the patio looking at all the fish down below. Would recommend this place to anyone and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights after a bareboat charter out of Uturoa. Given the price compared to say Bora Bora overwater bungalows, this is a no brainer. So I am glad we got to experience "over water bungalows" in French Polynesia. HOWEVER the property is really quite run down. Our deck chairs were extremely old and in bad shape.... More

We stayed here just one day. It was OK, but I would look for something else if I passed by again. The room was reasonably clean, but not real high standard. Some of the basics were not in good functioning condition, i.e., a couple of electrical outlets didn't work, and some of the furnishings were well-worn. We ate here as... More

Firstly I feel terrible writing this as the lovely staff were kind enough to upgrade us from a garden bungalow to an overwater bungalow as we were on our honeymoon! The overwater experience (our only one on our honeymoon) was great, however was soon surpassed by the realisation that the bungalows were terribly outdated and falling apart. The bathroom was...
