For a normal guy like me, without so much money and on his own, French Polynesia is an unbelievably hard place to stay: any place to sleep will finish the money you planned to spend in three days; there is no food in the supermarkets because it's supposed to be bought only by the locals; people are generlly unfriendly and... If you are a masochistic self-flagelating adrenaline-junkie and an entomologist with a penchant for Star Wars live-action-role-play, DO stay there. Fifi is a perfect fusion between Jabba-the-Hut and Darth Vador. She stoically wields around several hundred pounds of blubber and a classic first-generation breathing machine. "Breakfast (space - gasp) is (space- gasp) a(space) gift (gasp) and (phlegm-garggle) complimentary". If you... More

We booked into this hostel because it was near the airport and we had an early flight to catch. We should have just slept in the departure lounge becuase this hostel was terrible. We were shown to our beds by a man in speedos and despite having booked a private room a week earlier I was to sleep in a... More

By way of intro, let me say that my spouse and I have done hiking in remote areas and camped out in a tent, so even though we like lovely hotels, we've also roughed it for several weeks at a time, and understand what to expect from modest accommodations. Chez Fifi--what can I say that would be appropriate for a... More

I stayed at Pension Fifi for one night in June 09. The only reason I picked here was because it's only 3 min away from Tahiti Faaa airport, very convenience and my flight was 7am. I also checked online reviews and assumed it's an 'Ok' pension, but turned out it was the most terrible place I've ever stayed. Don't ever... More

Chez Fifi is a quite cheap place just 3 minutes walking from Papeete airport. We stayed in a fair double room on the raod side. The main problem was that the place was awfully noisy, with dogs barking, chickens yelling and planes landing. Fifi doesn't care a lot about her guests, so don't expect a warm but rather a very,... Q: What perspective is this review coming from? A: We're a family of four. Mom and Dad are in their 40's, with a 10 year-old daughter and 15 year-old son. We're very seasoned travelers from California. Not poor, not rich, yadda yadda yadda. Q: Can you tell us about Chez Fifi on Price, rooms, location, and service? A: Price. If... More

I stayed there for 2 nights in Dec 2006 (despite the reviews I'd seen) and the place was fantastic! It's in a beautiful setting, with lush gardens and a bucket of turtles (no joke) in the garden. The owners were lovely! The guy chatted with me, making every effort for my limited french, about everything from food to rugby to... More

The owner of the hotel picked us up from the airport, even though it was 1am in Tahiti. We stayed in a double with shared bathrooms. The accommodations and bathroom were spotless. In the morning we were greeting with a delicious breakfast of bread, coffee, and a variety of chilled tropical fruits. The view from our breakfast table was beautiful!... More

Stayed at Chez Fifi in December 2005, despite my brother's warnings about it. It's the only hotel near the airport, where I had to check in at 0500hrs for an early flight. I checked in early to make sure I got the "best" available single room and that i didn't have to share it with anyone else. Chez fifi is... More
