Spent 3 nights at the Gracious House. Butch, Carol and the rest of the folks were great; everyone made a band of motorcycles feel like we were part of the family. The food and drink were killer! The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, the Sluice box (bar) was a hit. I'll be returning as soon as I can.

The Gracious House is a bar that serves excellent pie and coffee. The bar is a trailer that has been gutted and turned into a quaint bar papered with dollars bills. Stops here and eat at the counter and visit with a gracious hostess.

This rustic, Alaskan lodge is a great place for a stop when traveling the Denali Highway. We did not stay overnight, just stopped in for pie and coffee. Staff was friendly and ready to share stories of the area and road. Honk horn to get service. Each worker has several responsibilities, so be patient and ask for help. We had... More

If you plan on travailng through Alamea and near the Denali hwy. you need to swing through this place. This is real Alaska run by real Alaskans. If you drive the Denali hwy you must make this a stop. You won't regret staying at this place.

I stayed just one night at the lodge. Butch and Carol were amazing. They made sure I received dinner even though it was very late. I woke up to a wonderful breakfast where I got a nice history lesson about the area. Extremely nice people - rooms were nice, I had my own bath which is rare for most lodges... More

Hello All, I'd like to recommend Gracious House Lodge roughly in the middle of the Denali Highway. At the time of our travel, it was the only lodge on that highway, but it is also possible to drive the whole of it from end to end on one day. HOWEVER, staying overnight in Gracious House was a great experience for... More

My 2-week stay at Gracious House was peaceful and memorable. I was working in the area and used the lodge as a base, as it is the only reasonable lodge between Cantwell and Tangle Lakes. I very much enjoyed my stay at this slice of real Alaska, and the friendly, hard-working owners, Carol and Butch, ensured that I was well... More

As a 40 yr old woman that was blessed to be raised in this area, I only wish that those that visit now could have experienced this place in it's prime! Butch and Carol are my parents, and although I am no longer in the Alaskan area, we woke every morning to a SPECTACULAR view of Mt Deb out our... More

Carol and Butch are very personable and extremely hard working folks. Gracious House is now a B&B, but we lucked out and were included in great dinners with a group of mine exploration people. The area is beautiful and off the general beaten path. A wild and remote area, peaceful and serene. Once again we enjoyed the visit. Walt and... More

The room itself looked like it was straight out of the 70s; however, it was clean and adequate. The shower took a very long time in the morning to get hot water. The food was very good, though - anything you can order with fresh ingredients from the garden is good. I would highly recommend the strawberry-rhubarb pie, which I... More
