Good value for the off-season rate in such a remote location. Warm, clean, comfortable and quiet room, spacious enough for two persons. Bathroom had all the standard facilities, without the quirks of some out of the way accommodations. Free internet in the room, with coffee and tea in the lounge along with a gas fireplace and a desktop for guest... More

I have stayed at all of the hotels in Barrow, and the King Eider Inn has by far the best value for your dollar. I always come back to the King Eider Inn, simply because it is the best in town....in my opinion. It is moderately priced and has a warm mountain cabin feel to it with the log furniture.... More

Barrow is an unusual place. I'm happy I visited. June 21, 2014 for the solstice and 24 hours of sunlight. King Eider makes you take off your shoes, which is fine because Barrow is basically all mud and dirt. No grass, virtually no vegetation, and no pavement. The price at King Eider was certainly high by Alaska standards, but considering... More

When in Barrow stay here! Clean, and friendly. Will not disappoint you. Across the street from the airport and close to dining. Free coffee in the lobby and pleasant conversation to be had. Local crafts with local legends added in for good measure. Clean, safe and close to the airport. Stay here!

My friend stayed there and highly recommended it. I was not disappointed. Considering where you are (300 plus miles north of the Arctic Circle) it's a very comfortable hotel and almost across the street from the airport. It's also within walking distance of places to eat and the Arctic Ocean. I'd definitely stay there again.

The arctic is pretty much what you'd expect - barren, cold and a bit inhospitable. However, it is shocking how nice the hotels are. We stayed at the King Eider for the fall whale hunt. Room was really well appointed, had decent amenities (Pharmacopia bathroom products, big flat screen in room and new linens.) Front desk was awesome, housekeeping was... More

I was not looking forward to my two days in Barrow due to the cold and the lack of hotel choices however I was nicely surprised and this little hotel/ Inn the room 09 was large clean and always warm so was the attitude of the people working there, the maid service let me know everything there was to know... This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in an amazing it was in the Arctic. The manager(Jack) was the best hotel managers I have ever met and was very helpful in a situation that went south earlier in the trip. He knew the town, he knew everything about the town. A person would be nothing less than... More

The proprietor was helpful and accommodating. Yes, you remove your shoes when entering and they provide disposable foam slippers to wear inside. Right across the street from the airport. Walking distance to the shore and the Iñupiat Heritage Center. Quiet. Barrow is dry...no alcohol allowed and they take it seriously.

It would be hard to understand why anyone would stay elsewhere in Barrow. The Alaska Airlines terminal is an extremely smallish building. From back to front you are walking about twenty yards. As you exit the front of the building the King Eider is across the street. And the street is narrow. The hotel itself lacks the neon, concrete and... More
