I called at the last minute and was able to book the last room. Very close to the airport, actually just across the street. Anyone who dares to venture to this out of the way piece of the U.S. would enjoy their stay here. Very clean, beautiful rooms and friendly and helpful staff. Just make sure to take your shoes... I agree with photographer Jeffrey Sward <www.jeffreysward.com> who says, "When in Barrow, Alaska, be sure to stay at the King Eider Inn. Just a few steps from the airport, the King Eider Inn offers hospitality and comfort." So true! Don't let the proximity to the airport scare you away: The King Eider is peaceful and quiet. The excitement of watching... More

I just spent three days weathered in at the King Eider Inn in Barrow and had a great stay. Rooms very clean and comfortable, was informed by the staff that the strong storm winds we were having (-8f with 30kt winds for wind chill factor of about -35f) would often cause the natural gas room heaters to quit. Instructed how... More

I stayed here for 2 nights during Kivgiq. It is the closest hotel to the airport and was very close to the school where the festival was held. They have a list of guides who offer tours if you ask. All restaurants seem to deliver and they have menus available in the lobby. I could control the heat in my... More

Much newer than any other place in town so it feels cleaner and more comfortable. Barrow is small enough to walk most anywhere if you are willing and able or cabs are plentiful. The other popular option has more history and is on the water, tends to be more expensive and is a bit run down by comparison.

This hotel is only a hop, skip, and a jump from the door of the terminal. It's also very close to most of the restaurants in town, the beach, the grocer, the Native Heritage Center, the famous whale bone arch, the roller rink, the ice rink, the bank...just about anything you need is just a short walk away. The reception... More

Clean and spacious rooms. Located walking distance from airport is a plus. Bathroom was clean and well maintained. Reception staff availability is limited, - was friendly and helpful when available. The reception staff helped arrange a guide for an early morning 5AM tour of Point Barrow. The tour guide recommended was not worth the money ! No problem getting vegetarian... More

I was surprised at how nice and comfortable the King Eider was. As with all hotels in Barrow, it was too expensive, but overall I still can give it a five star rating. Good service started wtih my phone call to make my reservation. The front desk was as helpful as any front desk I've talked to. They made my... More

I don't understand why travelers would want to stay anywhere else when they visit Barrow. I've stayed at all the hotels in town and King Eider is clearly the best choice. They're right across the street from the airport, they have the largest and cleanest rooms, looks like the standard rooms have mini fridges now too. The free wireless Internet... More

The King Eider is as good as it gets in Barrow. I have heard that the Airport Inn is also nice but the King Eider is the newest place and arguably in the best shape of Barrow's hotels. Its right across from the airport (Alaska Airlines) so you can just pop across the street without a cab or shuttle. Rooms... More
