Barrow is an arctic town, surrounded by dusty and loose rock roads, the reason that the owners ask that guests remove their shoes. We found this hotel a real jewel among others we have stayed in while visiting remote areas. There is comfortable sitting area with a fireplace, a computer to use day and night, very clean and comfortable rooms... more

I agree with most of the reviewers said, the hotel and room and good, but owner is not friendly at all. Plus they turn the heater too warm in the hotel and can't get sleep with that temp. more

I stayed at the King Eider Inn for one night. I got into Barrow before noon and was in my room shortly after. We had snow that morning and everything was muddy because of the dirt roads, making it very clear why it was a good idea to take your shoes off when inside. There are benches to sit on... more

I visited Barrow for a couple of days of Geocaching and bird watching. I picked the King Eider mostly based on their website, which I found to be friendly and informative. I wish that I could say that about the owners On my flight to Barrow I met someone on the plane who had stayed there. He said that it... more

We had read that this was the best hotel in Barrow. I think not! The location is good in the way that it is right across the street from the airport. However if you get a room towards the street there is - believe it or not even in a very small town like Barrow - quite some noise both... more

I recently stayed in Barrow when the temperature was 30 degrees below zero -- The greeting I got from Jerry and Kathy (the inkeepers) could not have been warmer. I arrived after walking about 3 mins. from the airport. It has a great location. The room was perfect -clean and warm --very simple but nice-- The following morning Kathy introduced... more

The hotel needs a good cleaning to get it back to par. Too much dust in the rooms and mildew in the shower. The owners are pretty grumpy - good to get an opinion on where to eat but not overly friendly. Location is good and price is standard for Alaska. The carpet upstairs is all messed up in the... more

For those who need wireless there is wireless in the room. If you don't have a laptop with you but feel a jones to check your email the Inn does have a internet ready computer... more

Made a last minute business trip to Barrow. King Eider was the 1st hotel I called that had a room available. When I spoke to them they were very pleasant and informed me of the rule that shoes must come off when you enter the building. Different, but OK, maybe it's a cultural thing. I can do that. I was... more

Reserved a room & car rental 10 months in advance. At check in, our room was given to someone else and the car was not on site. We took a lesser room and received the car the next day. There are no roads in /out of Barrow, no cruise ships on a schedule, just one flight in the evening....but you... more
