We had a wonderful stay our first and last nights in Costa Rica. The property is very beautifully maintained with huge mango trees, tropical vegetation and hummingbirds feeding on the flowers. The owners were very attentive to our requests and breakfast was delicious. I will make this a regular stop anytime I'm passing through San Jose.

Our first time in Costa Rica, this was a good choice coming from the airport after dark. The driver and cab promised us didn't show so we took a taxi after a wait. { Finding the place confounded all taxi drivers but could be done especially with cell phone directions.} The splendid old house was quiet and comfortable, with the feeling... I was in Escazu from the U.S. for a dental appointment and Casa de las Tias was chosen for the perfect location - I could walk to the clinic and restaurants and shopping. It was so much more than a perfect location - the hosts, Pilar and Xavier, were friendly, attentive and helpful in every way. I wasn't feeling well... More

This B & B is utterly enchanting. The hosts - Xavier and Pilar - have decorated the sumptuous rooms with art from their world travels with U. S. A. I. D. and are the perfect hosts, attentive but not intrusive. The grounds are beautiful and the location is ideal, close to shopping a walking tours but secluded. My wife and... More

Wonderful place and hosts!! Couldn't have asked for anything better. The breakfast served was delicious and enjoyed it sitting outside with a beautiful view. Can not wait to visit again! Xavier and Pilar are wonderful hosts and are very helpful.

I loved their home and friendly environment. Owners very helpful and social. Breakfast good. Close walk to good restaurants. Hard to find for taxis but they. Seem to figure it out. A refuge in a busy area.

A special and amazing place to stay. And the perfect place to begin and end you trip. The gardens are very lovely and accessible. There's a big porch in front or places to sit for breakfast, or otherwise, in the back. Our room had a private where we unwound and watched the birds after our travels. It's a beautiful, big... More

We booked our first night from the airport with our daughter and son-in-law after reading glowing reviews of this bed and breakfast. None of us could have imagined how relaxing and lovely a start to our Costa Rican vacation would be! In fact, we were wishing we had come earlier or stayed later to relax in Xavier and Pilar's little... More

I returned to Casa de las Tias last week with my family (wife and twin 11 year old boys) after having stayed here 15 years ago. Pilar and Xavier were just as lovely as I remembered. The garden is an oasis from the city filled with beautiful flowers and fruit trees. The trees bounty becomes part of the yummy breakfast... More

Make this place your home base and you will be delighted and surprised. It is close to everything in San Jose without the hustle bustle. Two blocks walk to great restaurants and shopping and yet the birds are louder than the traffic. It is safe and secure and the home is lovely and full of eccentric and homey touches. The... More

Thank you for your kind words and for staying with us. Just one little correction: we have five guest rooms. The one you like, our Colombia room with the balcony, has a full bed; the Guatemala Jr. Suite, with a King bed, can include an additional single bed. Then we have the Panama room with two single beds, the Andean... More
