The only heavy rain we experienced was in San Jose - the day before our departure. We went out to sightsee anyway knowing how pleasant our room waiting for us was. Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful staff. Tastefully decorated, clean, and bright rooms. Adorable courtyard setting for breakfast. Easy walking distance to downtown, but just far enough away from the fumes, crime, and noise. Cons: It's a bit hard for some taxi drivers to find. It was quite a shock for the taxi to pull into this alley and stop at a place that looked nothing like a hotel, but once the gate was opened, it was like its own little oasis in the city.
