After staying at various hostels throughout Central America over the previous few years, it is always nice to stay at Gaudy's. The staff are easy going and very helpful. The only noticeable change I have seen over the years is that the place continues to become cleaner and quieter, which I attribute to the new management (Andres, I think, is... More

My boyfriend and I began our Central American trip here after flying late into San Jose. The hostel itself is on a quiet, safe street 2 minutes walk from supermarket and 5/10 mins up to the central street where there is ATMs, places to eat etc. San Jose itself doesn't have much to offer but is a stop off point... I've used Guady's on 3 separate occasions and always been happy with the experience. The hostel is in a great location, it is easily accessible by taxi from the various bus stations, is right near a big supermarket, has a bus stop a block away should you wish to explore SJ and is onĺy a few blocks away from the... Never actually stayed there in the end. Despite booking the room on-line an evening before arrival our room was given away to someone else! They've e-mailed me in the morning to let me know the room was unavailable, but as we were travelling through the jungle most of the time and had no Internet access I wasn't aware about that... The place is pretty quiet, the location is perfect and the service is good. The staff will help you get all the informations you need for your trip. Dorms can sometimes seem a bit small for 8 people (depending on which room you get) but it's always clean. Here is a nice little hostel in San José!

This is a nice place to stay in San Jose. You can sit and watch TV in the evenings on the comfy sofas, and the breakfast of pancakes and fruit is really tasty and filling, and included in the price! The showers are powerful with hot water. The owner is super friendly, I arrived quite upset as I had a... More

In San Jose, there are not really lots of things to do... Then, it s better to stay in a nice hostel. The Gaudy s hostel is perfect ! Well located, good price, and nice atmosphere ! Moreover, the breakfast is included :)

Clean rooms, had a private room with a bunk for my friend and I to split. Had our own bathroom with hot water. Soap and towels were provided, generally clean areas all around. Kitchen is very small but manageable. Free breakfast was great... Fruits and pancakes and coffee. Staff seemed nice but we couldnt speak much Spanish so that made... More

Stayed here for a few days in Feb 2015 and really enjoyed my visit. The room was fine and the vibe of the place was great for mixing around with other travelers. I found the desk service a bit distant but incredibly helpful and understanding. I'd accidentally left my passport and took a set of their keys, and they were... More

My wife and I stayed here overnight on a layover in San Jose. It's exactly what you would expect, good staff and location is ok. The rooms could do with being a bit cleaner, but the help from the staff (including airport transfer) was excellent. They also helped us locate a police station as my wife's phone had been stolen...
