The hotel is a nice historic building in the heart of San José. The staff is friendly and very helpful. So far, so good. The problem is the noise. The rooms are not well isolated, so that you can hear any noise made in the hotel or arround it. It's right next to a major road (lots of traffic) and... More

I have stayed at this hotel on 3 separate occasions now, so clearly it is a decent enough place to keep drawing me back. Every time I have arrived I have had a member of staff greet me by name (I wasn't the only guest there either!) and then go out of their way to help me and make sure... More

Lovely historic building, now hotel and extremely sweet, helpful, staff. Even young lady at café was very sweet. The small hotel is on the corner of a busy street (pretty quiet at night) and a pedestrian-only cobblestone street. A block away is the court house, so morning and evenings legal staffs, etc., walk to and from work—interesting people watching. The... More

This was not the height of luxury, but I still enjoyed it very much. I found it charming, and breakfast in the morning (free) was downstairs at the attached cafe. Eating fruit and toast and reading the paper in the cafe as people strolled down the sunlight street to work in the morning was lovely. Ok sure, the train goes... More

the hotel Posada is well located next to the town center and seems to promise a peaceful and comfortable stay. but in reality it is a very noisy place, next the railway. the initial price is given without the tax, service is far from being friendly. Moreover despite our booking in advance we discovered upon our arrival, that we had... More

This hotel is in a great location in San Jose (eat at Nuestra Tierra down the block!). The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are roomy and have a private bath. I would agree with other travelers...location a tad noisy. My only complaint is that we were put in the room right behind the front desk and the... More

Let's start with saying this hotel provided us with excellent service, very helpful and kind and gave good restaurant suggestions. Our Tortuguero trip was suddenly cancelled, and late at night they helped us to book a new tour. The room was very spacious, clean and they have their own driver who can pick you up at the airport. We loved... More

The hotel staff is wonderful. The owners are always around and the wife, Sylvia speaks perfect english. The hotel is beautifully furnished. And my room large and had huge windows. The location is far enough away from the center of downtown San Jose-but close enough to walk to the casnios, museums, parks and shopping. There is a train that went... More

We recently stayed 4 nights in this hotel, at the start of a 6 week trip around Costa Rica. We looked around quite a few hotels in San Jose and were definite we chose the best one! This hotel should be much higher up the list than it is! We stayed in Mariposa, the big room at the back of... More

If you are looking for a luxury hotel or the conformity of a chain hotel (where you could just as easily be in Cleveland as Costa Rica), then this is not your place. This hotel is clean, charming and reasonably-priced. My fiance and I don't spend a lot of time in any hotel when we're traveling, we prefer to be... More
