There is something wonderful about finding such a beautiful lodge at the end of a journey. It made the long drive worthwhile. The wooden building is superbly designed with no glass or mesh between you sitting, eating or drinking in the lodge and the birds, butterflies and reptiles below in the ponds and garden. We experienced no insect problems either.... More

From the first to the last day, an unforgettable experience! We went there with a group of amateur photographers and made trips by day and night. The rooms do not have windows that you can close, so you hear all the frogs, birds and other wild animals the whole night long.

Really beautiful place to unwind and relax. The grounds are amazing. Rooms were nice and clean, the only thing a little weird was the plastic under the sheets but maybe that is for moisture protection. Carla was so nice and accommodating. We would recommend to anyone looking for quiet and to be around nature.

Our apologies for the inconvenient with the plastic on the bed, it was not mean to be like that, I was a mistake we made. Sometimes we cover the bed to protected when is not in use, but should not happen with a guest. Thank you for the feed back and glad you had a great time at the lodge.... More

If I could give Macaw Lodge an extra star, I would! It's a rustic but elegant, beautifully landscaped eco-oasis in the middle of some of the most beautiful forest you'll find, Central Pacific! First of all I researched this trip well in advance. I first became aware of the Macaw Lodge when my son, Otto, who is a bird watcher... More

Dear Salvador, it was a gift to meet you at Macaw Lodge, your help and input to help our place more sustainable has no value. The night talked about recovering our traditional crops, specially the rice variety "rexoro", was a reassurance that we are on the right track. Is a long journey but with the help of people like we... More

I just recently visited McCaw Lodge, what a wonderful experience, it's completely self-contained, all the electricity, lighting, water is provided by solar energy. Absolutely amazing place. The gardens are also an extraordinary site, they have an assortment of unique and absolutely beautifully manicured areas with exotic plants & flowers. One of my favorite spots is the black bamboo Cathedral looking... More

This was my first trip to Costa Rica and I must say that visiting the Macaw Lodge was definitely one of THE highlights! I will make sure to go there again on my next visit. If you love nature, peace and animals this is a must go for your next trip! The drive up to the lodge itself is already... More

Macaw Lodge offers an incredible experience close to exuberant nature, mesmerizing landscapes and a wonderful collection of exotic plants in the gardens. Some time ago I had the chance to stay in Macaw Lodge. We discovered a unexpected tropical paradise well-hidden in the high mountains of Turrubares. The road up to the lodge, crossing the little village of Bijagual, was... More

Thank you very much for comment, we are offering an excellent place for the nature lovers and bird watchers. We are not far from Carara National Park, Cerros de Turrubares Reserve and Castro Cervantes National Refuge, the three major conservation categories plus we are not far from La Cangreja National Park. This is an amazing Lodge in the middle of the Rainforest Mountains, no so far from the Pacific Ocean. It is surrounded by a gorgeous garden where you can see an enormous variety of flora and many different kinds of birds, specially the red macaw. The food is great, very healthful and delicious! It has a peacefully atmosphere, where you... More

Having travelled worldwide i thought i had "seen it all". Well, that was before having the chance to stay at the Macaw lodge. First, it is away from the crowd, 35 minutes away from the main road (the gravel road is of good quality and you will enjoy the scenic). Then, when arriving in the Macaw plantation, the magic starts:... More
