I liked everything about this charming boutique hotel! We stayed here because it's close to the (local) airport, since we were flying on "Nature Air" to Golfito in two days. We had separate rooms, mine was small with a window and doors opening onto a small balcony. My friend's room was larger, with a fully-stocked wet bar! He only had... More

We found Casa Roland to be absolutely delightful. The staff was very accomodating. The rooms very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was well beyond our expectations. I visit San Jose 2 or 3 times per year, and from now on Casa Roland will be my #1 choice.

This place is highly overrated. It was expensive, the location is really out of the way and the manager is creepy. I would pick another place to stay.

We were looking for a place to spend one night, on the way from Monteverde to Corcovado. Since we had booked an early flight with Nature Air, the sensible thing was to spznd the night as close as possible to Tobias Bolano airport. Casa Roland seemed the good option, since it is the closest ; besides, reviews were excellent. Well,... More

Once again, an excellent experience at the Casa Roland. I am a regular visitor, but the service and unique ambience is always pleasing. The complimentary breakfast is terrific and the lobby bar is always filled with a cast of interesting characters. Need to check email? They offer free computers and wi-fi if you carry your own. Superb restaurant, The Paragon,... More

What a great place! I have stayed in hotels all over the world, including some very elegant, and although this is not the most elegant I really think it is one of the coolest I've stayed in! The breakfast was excellent and cooked perfectly, the room was large and nice, but the most important aspect was the attitude of the... More

Probably one of the cleanest and beautifully furnished hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms - fantastic! All rooms are furnished with large traditional wooden furniture. Air conditioned and fidge with bottled water, and the beds so comfortable. Breakfast too was very good. If you visit - there is also a wonderful... More

These people really know how to treat people. My aunt stayed here on her way to visit us in Costa Rica, and suggested I stay there whenever I overnighted in San Jose. The main reason we stayed was because they allowed our dog Capòne to come. They welcomed us and our dog with open arms! The hotel and rooms are... More

We were searching for somewhere close to Tobias Bolano airport since we were flying out on Nature Air next day and we found Casa Roland. When we arrived on April 20 electricity was just returning after country wide blackout the day before. We went to the restaurant right next door for dinner (pretty with nice service that night - appealing... More

Paintings and sculptures, plants everywhere. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great little local eatery 1/2 block away, complete with local soap opera TV on the counter. A hoot and a great deal of a meal. Wish we could have stayed longer than the 10 hours we did before our flight home! Will go back again.
