Three early 1900 houses, all well kept on a quite street, are linked together on the inside. Rooms vary in quality and size - none are fancy and all but a few (those without windows) are comfortable. The breakfast garden, which is inside/outside is wonderful and the breakfast (included) is very good, with many tasty choices and strong coffee.

Dear guest: Thank you for writing this commentary. We are glad that you have enjoyed our breakfast. As pointed out in our website, the main feature of the rooms at Hotel Aranjuez is that they are all unique. However, as most of them form part of the original homes built in the 30s, have in common their architectural heritage details... More

The place is calm and charming and is not very expensive. A big plus is the awesome breakfast. No unregistered guests are allowed, which is something I prefer. The room I stayed in wasn't very soundproof, so try to get a room where not many people pass by.

This is a quirky, clean hotel very close to the main street of downtown San Jose. As mentioned on the website, it is a number of houses joined up(thus the quirkiness)There are interesting little patios and sitting areas within the hotel. The reservations procedure is outdated and a little weird in 2014(the only place in Costa Rica I experienced this),but... More

Dear guest: We much appreciate your comment. For us is very important the feedback in order to improve our services. Since now, we are going to pay attention on the light problem. The hotel is a good value and walking distance from the National Theater and other centrally located attractions. The rooms are clean, but it seemed a little musty when we were there. (It was raining heavily). The breakfast was great as everyone says. Our chief complaint was the noise - we could actually hear it when people in other rooms... More

Dear guest: We are glad that you had found practical our location, a walking distance to main attractions of our capital. We apologize for the noise problem. As we mention in our website, we have been working on it in the last years until the point of not affecting the houses that we keep as architectural patrimony of the XIX... More

We stayed one night in this Hotel on our day of arrival and it was an excellent choice. We arrived at 6 am, check-in is usually an 2 pm, but we could get our room after breakfast - which we could buy for 10$pP (worth every penny, see below), so we had our room already at 8am- perfect. The room... More

San José is not the most welcoming city. The more important it is, to feel home in the hotel you stay in. I spent just one night there travelling from Nicaragua to Puerto Viejo. Friends recommended me this hotel and I'm happy I followed their advice. The location of the hotel is quite - not the best if you just... More

I've been coming to Costa Rica for two decades but have never stayed in a hotel in San Jose. This place was recommended by a friend and I was pleased with the experience. The place is really a bunch of old houses that have been connected. It's not fancy, nor is it like a US chain so leave those expectations... More

A nice boutique hotel. The breakfast is famous for good reasons. We had rambutan for breakfast and the omelette was fresh made to order. The garden around the hotel is very nice and peaceful. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the city. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Highly recommended!

We stayed for two nights. The court yard is very charming. Excellent Breakfast. The hotel is close to downtown with a short taxi drive or walk. The room is clean but the wall is very thin. The wifi is very slow.

Dear guest: We are glad you have enjoyed a peaceful moment in our court yard. During this Rainy Season is just gorgeous to take a cup of coffee (available all day long by free) while the rain is falling over the trees and the large spectrum of the green leaves. My boyfriend and I stayed for one night at this hotel in San Jose. The hotel itself is in good condition, is pretty and tranquil, and the breakfast was good. The hotel is also good value.
