The Grando de Oro Hotel is a little oasis of peace and tranquility 10 - 15 mins walk from the centre of San Jose. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious, ( although we were told that we had an upgraded room ) and the food was delicious. An added bonus was that 4 days... More

The Hotel Grano de Oro was our first stop on our recent honeymoon in Costa Rica. We only stayed for one night (before continuing on with our journey), but they definitely made a lasting impression! Our room was upgraded to a beautiful superior room with an indoor garden/ water fountain. An array of fresh fruit also awaited us in the... More

Feel is historic, colonial period which keeps it from being a generic hotel. Stayed two separate nights spread over one week. They kept a bag for me while I traveled. And did not charge me until I checked out the second time. All of this was handled by a very adept and friendly front desk staff. First night in room... More

We stayed here our last night in Costa Rica. They upgraded our room and we got a beautiful room with a little outdoor garden. The hotel used to be a private mansion and each of the rooms is different. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was nice. The location of the hotel is ok. The immediate vicinity isn't... More

This was our first hotel at the start of our honeymoon in Costa Rica and wow! It's just elegant and stylish and contemporary from the moment you walk in, with a huge, spacious, glass.-fronted reception area. It is a converted Victorian-style townhouse / mansion, with spacious modern rooms and an excellent restaurant, serving highly-rated food (reservations recommended!). The decor as... More

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of our trip to Costa Rica for two nights. We took a pre-arranged cab ride from the airport. The hotel is beautiful and felt true to their culture (not a typical american transplant). We didn't eat at the restaurant because it was so expensive. After checking in, we were escorted to our... Great old fashion hotel that's a throw back two a bygone era. The hotels restaurant is excellent; great food, great atmosphere and an awesome wine list. This hotel has everything you need in house ... don't go out and wonder around this city .. Although it's not a good area, that would not deter me from staying at the Hotel... More

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and each time we had a great experience. The room, restaurant, decor, and the people make this a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend the hotel to anyone needing a place to stay in San Jose.

The hotel was beautiful! We were only there for one night, but we did eat at the restaurant and loved the atmosphere! Very professional servers and great food (pricey though) Our room was very pleasant with hardwood floors, an updated bath, and high ceilings. The beds were really comfortable too. We stayed here the night before we left due to... More

We booked three nights at Grano De Oro, where we started our tour of Costa Rica. We arrived on sep, 7th late evening quite exhausted from USA on a connection flight from Europe (door to door 22h). A warm welcome from the hotel staff a refreshing drink offered and a few minutes after we were already "singing under the shower"... More
