We stayed here for 2 nights and loved the restaurant. The staff at the front desk was very helpful for all requests. Since the hotel is old we stayed on the first floor and heard all the noise above us, it was not too bad. An elegant hotel and a good way to start off our 10 day trip in... More

Our room had great character and had cute windows that opened onto a little garden with a water feature. Furniture and decor were charming and we had all we needed. We also lucked out and got a Costa Rica book from the book swap area! I love the entryway and courtyard at the restaurant.

The Grano de Oro is an elegantly appointed and quite charming small hotel located in the heart of San Jose. I have stayed there on four occasions. The rooms are tastefully done and many of them have attached gardens containing a functioning fountain. There is no ceiling over the garden, in effect it acts as your window. The garden and... More

Beautiful converted mansion. Stunning dining room and open-air bar, garden atriums, rooftop jacuzzis and lounge chairs, and lots of wonderful historical photos of Costa Rica. Dark wood interiors, impeccable service. We were upgraded to a garden room.We just did an overnight stay on our way to Manuel Antonio and were very pleased. Try Tinjo ginger bomb cocktails at the bar... More

They do not live up to the price they are charging. Rooms are simple and no space. Bathrooms are small. No extra luxury in the rooms. Just a fancy lobby and restaurant. Not really worth the price they charge.

Upon arrival at the hotel we were welcomed with drinks.Checking in went fast and smoothly. Our room was nicely decorated just as the rest of the hotel was. The windows were open so there was a nice fresh atmoshere in the room. Coffeemaking facilities, free WiFi, a fruit platter and all the appropriate amenities were included. The room was superclean... This is a colonial hotel, full of elegance, but for those who want to pay the expensive fare, it is fair and worth it. herds are comfortable and service is good. Actually the whole team worked remarkably hard to solve an internet problem I had.

We spent one night here and had a fantastic experience. Hotel staff greeted us out front and signaled ahead to the check in staff. We were greeted with fresh wash cloths and juice on check in. Excellent service, wonderful room with a very comfortable bed. We had a ground floor room off the fountain courtyard. We loved the charm, but... More

Close to the Avenida Colon this nicely restaured old house offers very quiet rooms where you really feel that you are in Central America. Plenty of patios and fountains. Rooms are very clean but some may be rather dark being at the inside of the house. Small sun terrace with jacuzzi.Good breakfast a la carte in very nice patio.

Probably a 20/30 minute drive from the airport to town. We only had one night at the hotel and once we got there it was so nice that we decided not to go out and to make the most of the hotel instead. We had lunch there as the dinning area is beautiful, they have a great menu, and the... More
