This place is a perfect hidden gem in the middle of a big city. I have nothing bad to say about it. If you want a nice place to stay in San Jose with close proximity to most inland tours, this is your place. The food in the restaurant is amazing, the staff is absolutely friendly, and the hot tub... more

This restored mansion is very beautiful with modern conveniences and indoor and outdoor gardens make this a unique property. However, there was a mix-up about a breakfast voucher. Rather than acoomodate us or figure out a way to resolve the matter, the staff was stiff, didn't know how to handle the situation and after talking with 4 people at the... more

We stayed at Hotel Grano de Oro our first night and our last night in Costa Rica. The architecture, decor (Victorian), the finishes (dark wood and marble), all the small intricate tiled courtyards with fountains scattered around the hotel … it is absolutely delightful. We wandered around the hallways and you never knew when you would come across another courtyard... more

This is a very pretty hotel in a good, quiet location close to the city centre. The hotel appears to be a converted grand house and rooms are centred around a courtyard. Ours was comfortable and had a large bathroom attached. Because of the courtyard it was a little on the dark side. The restaurant is superb and breakfast very... more

We stayed here at the end of our two week trip in Costa Rica. Its about 15 minutes to the rental car place we use which is about 10 minutes from the airport. We were married near Arenal May 9, traveled to Monteverde and Uvita. The hotel was so cozy and the food was excellent. We will definitely stay here... more

We stayed 2 separate nights at Hotel Grano de Oro. What elegance and beauty! The rooms were both gorgeous and unique. The entire hotel was breathtaking - the indoors flowed seamlessly to ourdoor areas, and back in again. We had dinner twice, and breakfast once, and the food was amazing. The staff went above and beyond to help us arrange... more

I loved this hotel! Approximately four years ago, I visited Grano de Oro Restaurant for dinner. I was very impressed with the service and the meal itself. Because I live in the US, I compare the prices to American prices. I thought we got excellent value for both the meal and the service. We were four women, at one point... more

We needed to stay one night in San Jose simply because we were being picked up from there for our trip to Tortuguero. Largely based on reviews on TA, we chose Hotel Grano de Oro. First impressions were good, it is a lovely building and our check in was handled efficiently and pleasantly. We booked a superior room (one up... more

My wife and I stayed here one night before catching a bus out of the Coca Cola terminal for Manuel Antonio the next morning. It was only a five minute cab ride to the bus station, and about a 25 minute cab ride from the airport. We loved the architecture, the elegant cafe, the food, the service and the location.... more

We booked this hotel simply because our flight got in late, and we didn't want to drive to the Pacific Coast until the next morning. I wasn't expecting much, but when we pulled up and saw this beautiful hotel I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very professional, and quickly checked us in and helped us get our bags to... more
