(4/11-13) This was our 1st of 4 hotels during our Costa Rican honeymoon. We were upgraded to a suite free of charge, which was sweet (no pun intended). King size bed, living room area and a huge bathroom with a roomy jacuzzi. We were greeted by the bell hop Daniel who was incredibly friendly, informative, and a huge help in... More

Hotel Presidente offers the best location in town. We stayed a total of six days as we explored San Jose and the surrounding area, interrupting the stay for three days on the Pacuare River. They had no problem storing luggage while we were on the river. I found this medium-sized hotel perfect for my taste. Large enough to offer amenities... More

I had stayed at the gran hotel for one night, and had a less than wonderful experience. The location was great for seeing San Jose, but the hotel rooms were awful. Super uncomfortable bed, no AC, and really, really noisy. I decided to forfeit the second night to try the Hotel Presidente (it was that bad). What a difference. It... More

Most of the reviews here are pretty accurate. This hotel is in a great spot in San Jose - right off of a walking mall which has a ton of shopping, eateries, museums, and taxis all just steps away. This was ideal for parents traveling with small kids - it makes getting out in an unfamiliar city alot easier when... More

This hotel was great. My girlfriend and I arrived several hours after check in and we were upgraded to a suite, and given a bottle of champagne. The parking (which is free), was staffed by attendants who were on point, and very professional. The free breakfast in the morning was excellent as well, and the doormen and security guards were... We would like to thank Apprentice_Jet_Set for the great review. The issue with street names and signs is absolutely accurate. Costa Rica and especially San José are hard to navigate, especially for first time visitors. For as long as I can remember, addresses and directions have been given based on landmarks, distances (expressed in meters or city blocks) and cardinal... More

We were only in the city for one night, but the hotel was excellent. Beds were fluffy and comfortable, huge shower in the bathroom. Great location to explore the city. Two blocks to the theater, three blocks the other way to parks and museums. Onsite bar and restaurant is great for people watching. Free internet. Buffet breakfast included with several... More

We were about two blocks from the National Theater, which was right in the center of the tourist attractions. Being in the center of the city, it was slightly noisy at night. To be fair, we were given a free upgrade because they thought we were honeymooning, so I can't speak to the quality or value of the regular rooms.... More

I had a very nice four night stay at the Presidente last week, Jan 2010. The hotel was clean and secure, the staff friendly and helpful and I was very satisfied. My room was very clean and the bed both large and comfortable. The only problem was a faulty air conditioner the first two nights, but after it was repaired... More

We used the Presidente as our first port of call upon landing in Costa Rica and were very impressed. The hotel arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport and take us to the hotel (as well as sorting out our onward Interbus tickets at no extra cost) and the staff were extremely helpful throughout. The rooms... More

Stayed 2 nights. Good international standard. More expensive than any other hotel I stayed in while in Costa Rica but worth it
