Very basic rooms despite the entrance and premium positioning of the hotel. Not even a three star hotel. The room was fairly dark and dingy, with minimal amenities and poor servicing (eg. No complimentary water, and housekeeping failed to provide any toilet roll). Breakfast was average. Staff were helpful, and front desk service was largely good. Overall the rooms let... More

The place is super cute, particularly the lobby. It's near a main boulevard, no cars allowed, lined with shops and Western fast food (not what we were looking for, but FYI). The staff was okay. Front door guys were particularly friendly. They do charge $35 for an airport shuttle, which is the same as grabbing a taxi. Comfy bed, uncomfortable... More

It was my first time in San Jose, Costa Rica, my husband's fifth. He always books 2 nights at Hotel Presidente at the beginning and at the end of the trip. The hotel was fully remodeled 2-3 years ago, there are still some ongoing renovations on the property, but nothing loud. The service was great, the guys assisted us with... More

Only real negative for this hotel is it's a little hard to get to, but that can be attributed to the ideal downtownlocation. Lots of positives... - Great look and feel - Solid room size - AC - Ideal location - terrific service - Great complimentary breakfast

We stayed here for 1 night until our next flight in the morning. It's about 35 minute drive from the airport. It was a nice hotel. The rooms were quiet, clean and big. The only downfall is that the bed and pillows were not that comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall, I would stay here again.

First visit to CR. Lots of interesting street life in San Jose. Several well done museums (Gold, Jade, and especially the National Museum. We enjoyed two days walking the downtown area and having a couple really good dinners. Hotel is modern with well furnished rooms and helpful staff! Very safe.

Have to say that it was 11pm and after 20 hours of flight, to search for alternative hotel was the last thing I wanted. Fortunately some... More

A lovely friendly, clean hotel. The foyer is going through renovation, but the rest of the public areas are well designed and attractive. Breakfast was one of the best we had out of 8 Costa Rican hotels around the country. Room 501 is huge. Central location on corner of pedestrianised zone close to museums and other touristy stuff. Efficient a/c.

This is a classy boutique hotel in the heart of San Jose, Costa Rica that won't bust your pocket book! Upon entering, you feel like you're being transported into another world. A world of fine taste in furnishings and ambience! The breakfast buffet is extensive, delicious, and mouth watering. I wish I could've stayed longer, however, had to catch a... More

My wife and I recently got married during our stay at the "Hotel El Presidente" and the staff went above and beyond to support us with last minute wedding planning and transportation arrangements, simply put, incredibly sportive! We stayed in a very spacious contemporary suite with large bath, separate lounge area to include refrigerator, blow dryer (important for the ladies)... More
