Hotel was clean, rooms were nice and roomy. Had to ask everyday for towels.( they would take them, but never replace them. The Lobby restaurant/bar was a nice setting, but service was slow and sub par. The menu was VERY basic. We waited like 30mins for the food and then it was cold! I made a spa appointment and when... Nice hotel to stay in San José, near a lot of attractions and otherwise you can take a taxi, I also liked a lot the tours and deals they have to take you to the Psoas Volcano, fields of Coffee and even they can take you to the beach!!

Front desk was so slow, finally after we checked in the porter Pablo (wonderful) explained to us that our two rooms were at either ends of the hotel and as we had 3 children this was not going to work. We went back to the front desk and asked for the 2nd time for rooms closer together. Daniela was so... More

I stayed at the hotel twice - once at the beginning of the trip and once at the end. The first stay was in a handicapped room. Very large room with a big balcony and two big queen beds. The bathroom was appropriately sized and included plenty of free toiletries - shower cap, shaving kit, loofah, toothbrush and paste -... More

Yes, it cost us 12$ US a day for wifi! Ridiculous! The rooms were clean, buffet food was ok, but I doubt I will ever stay here again. The bar was packed and had only one waitress and one bartender! I waited 30 minutes for a glass of wine. This place was nothing spectacular but not too terrible either (with... More

We stayed at the hotel with my parents in a suite Jan 9 and enjoyed it went to pool bar, the Japanese restaurant and the buffet for breakfast and were pleased with the service. We also had a very nice room but I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. When we arrived they ran our card for... More

The airports were closed and all flights were delayed. Without paying the outrageous daily fee of $12.99 we could not find out information. We left this hotel to wait out the crisis somewhere with FREE internet. The property was situated by hwys and there was no way to even walk anywhere for internet. Aside from a major crisis, when we... More

We started our holiday with 4 nights at the Barcelo Palacio San Jose. Just a 10 minute drive from the airport, this hotel is conveniently situated for the city or as a Base to visit national parks and volcanos. The hotel is surrounded by well planted and maintained garden areas that attract an abundance of bird life. We were surprised... More

The Barcelo Palacio hotel was our first stop on a 9 day Caravan tour and it was a great starting point for our vacation. The hotel appears to be older but the rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. The grounds were beautiful! Large palms line the front entrance and banana trees grow on the front lawn. Plenty of green parakeets... More

Staying at the Barceló Palacio was a wonderful experience. The gardens behind the hotel were filled with beautiful flowers, interesting manglar trees, and several varieties of birds. And beside the garden and off to the right side, there was a nice pool with a poolside bar with drinks and snacks. Inside the hotel, the buffet spread of the Costa Rican... More
