I only stayed overnight over a weekend, but the staff was great and I would definitely go back here again if I needed to stay in San Jose. It's certainly not a resort, but I certainly wasn't paying a resort price. And for what I paid, I was very happy with my lodgings. It was actually quite charming, quaint, and... More

Hi Rachel, Thank you for the fine review and charming and quaint are really quite nice in today's world of cookie cutter hotels. Having a good Costa Rica experience is what the trip is all about. I think you definitely received poor information about San Jose. As a single traveling female you do need to be cautious , but by... More

We checked in and out of the hotel three times during our stay in Costa Rica. We decided against renting a car and this was an excellent option. The overnight tours we chose picked us up at the hotel, and we brought only what was needed for those times. Santo Tomas held the rest of our luggage so we didn't... More

Hola 707Roadtripper, Thank You for the review and many clients use us as their home-base while traveling around the country. We assist many guests with their day tours and have been doing it for almost 25 years now. I am not sure which restaurant you went to but there are at least 40 restaurants with in a four block radius,... More

I visit San Jose often and have stayed at many different hotels. Hotel Santo Tomas has become my favorite. The staff speaks English, and are always very friendly & helpful. I love that they have a great gym, swimming pool and a Jacuzzi. And it's only a few blocks from the middle of downtown. It is quite literally my home... More

Hola CWhites, Always great to have all of our repeat clients return and I really enjoy chatting with you and everyone else. We just replaced the carpet in the gym and are sprucing up the machines and room a bit more, Great when guests use the gym! Jump in the jacuzzi after a work out and cool off in the... More

We chose the Hotel Santo Tomas for its proximity to downtown, and we were not disappointed. When we first pulled up to the hotel, we were concerned as there was no visible signage from the street and the security bars surrounding the entry were a bit ominous. Once inside, however, we felt like we were in a calm oasis in... More

We landed in San Jose and decided to spend the first night downtown before heading around the country. We were so fortunate to find the St. Thomas. A great hotel to start the trip, with better Wi-Fi than we have in San Francisco! Thomas himself was over the top helpful, providing us tips on restaurants and places to visit throughout... More

We stayed for two nights. Everything about our stay was positive. Our children loved the pool, the room was spacious and clean, the free breakfast was good, and the staff was very helpful. The location was excellent - a very easy walk to everything we wanted to see. The owner, Thomas, was there to greet us and the other guests... More

I stayed here in room #10 for one night's stay. The room was quaint and clean. Lovely high ceilings with a ceiling fan to move air around. The bed was extremely comfortable with plenty of bedding which was great since I became chilled after being out in the rain. There is a small pool with an elevated hot tub complete... More

Hi Traversecity, Fantastic review you have given us , Thank You, you stayed in one of the original rooms and at around $52.00 US per night including a hot cooked breakfast not bad.
