We recently stayed at this old historic hotel to be in the heart of Downtown San Jose and it was an excellent choice. The location is excellent for walking to all the museums and restaurants in the area. The Breakfast views from the top of the hotel are spectacular. The hotel had a charming staff who were eager to help... More

This a richly historic hotel to give you flavor of post Democratic Costa Rica. If you're looking for modern luxury its not for you. Service was excellent and food good. Patio atmosphere great. Standard rooms don't have A/C so get superior. Location is excellent to see Centro. National Theater across the street is a must see. Highly recommend this for... More

This hotel is incredible. The history behind it is amazing. Famous celebrities and even some past presidents have stayed there. The hotel itself is beautiful. The view of San José is worth the trip itself. The staff was very accommodating. One employee took my sister and I on our own personal tour around the hotel. The ballroom was magnificent. Our... This hotel is in a great spot right in the city centre of San Jose. The hotel is very stately and the lobby and dining room are old and very beautiful. The rooms are however outdated and it seems like almost nothing has changed over the past 30 years. The rooms are uncomfy and not clean and very much outdated.... More

This is a favorite hotel when we want to stay in San Jose. The location is right in the middle of town so you have easy access to everything. The staff is always wonderful and willing to do whatever they can to please. Keep in mind this is an old hotel so it does not have a the amenities of... More

I highly recommend staying at this hotel. The location was amazing, (right in the center of town, next to the Teatro Nacional), the hotel beautiful, and the large buffet breakfast included in the price of the room as well as the nightly piano music were added bonuses. But what I loved most about this hotel was the staff. I was... More

The restaurant closed at 11 pm. There are no vending machines, nor anything else to eat in the room. The room was nice. Good bed. The bathroom was good (there's a tub). It's old-looking, in a charming way (although they better invest in up keeping cause it could easily get shot to hell). Breakfast is good. It's served in the... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. We booked a standard room through Booking which seemed fine for our purposes. However, the room was cramped, had no a/c (we knew this, but thought it would have air movement through a window). Our window opened into some kind strange elevator shaft thing. The heat in the room was stifling and we heard... More

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we had lunch in the restaurant. There is a nice open air patio and makes for a great stop after exploring the theatre. Prices were reasonable and our meals were all very good. The hi light was the service. It was both friendly and efficient. There are not many outside restaurants in the... More

Hi, I really took my time to write this, I arrived to the Hotel and the booking was a disaster, cause I previously booked 2 nights and the added one extra, so there was two reservation at my name but they didn't respect the discount for three nights, besides the week before I wrote like 3 emails to fix this...
