We recently returned from a trip that took us from San Jose, Costa Rica, south to Puerto Viejo; and onwards to Bocas del Toro, Panama. Very interesting, but as the saying goes " if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen"...so we did ! From the time we arrrived at the airport in San Jose CR; the... more

This is a great hotel for the begining or end of your trip due to the proximity of the airport. You will find basic comforts, security and clean rooms. Enjoy the business center, pool, hot tub, and casino nearby. Near the hotel are a few resturants, a super-market, pharmacy and a small shop in the hotel. There is not much... more

The grounds were pretty and it seemed pretty well maintained, as well as the rooms being relatively clean. However the beds were HORRIBLE!! Unless of course you enjoy sleeping on slabs of concrete! Soooo hard! more

We stayed at this hotel 1 night prior to heading out to explore Costa Rica on our own. The location of this hotel is great. Hwy 1 is right in front of the hotel. (I would expect that rooms facing the highway could be noisy, tons of traffic). Alamo was located right in the hotel, big part of our decision... more

We were switched into the Best Western Irazu due to rooming arrangements on our tour (we were in a large group). The hotel was very, very clean, and resembled something more like a Hilton hotel than a Best Western. The rooms were very clean and cozy, rooms facing the central gardens even had balconies. Every room had a TV with... more

My husband and I stayed here 4 nights in Jan / Feb 2009. Overall, we liked the hotel. It's located a taxi ride from downtown San José. It's clean and the service is good, the rooms are well appointed. Internet access (in the internet room) and towel service at the pool is free. The pool and jacuzzi are very nice... more

The hotel was in a great location for business and shopping, as well as travel to downtown. However, this hotel had some major drawbacks: * You have to ask for washcloths * The paper cups for coffee had lipstick on them from a previous guest * The room smelled funny (my colleague found mold in his room) * The staff... more

I was a little apprehensive about what to expect at this hotel after reading some reviews. I was pleasantly surprised; the hotel was clean, nicely landscaped, and offered all the amenities I wanted (free wi-fi, free shuttle service, laundry facilities). Yes, the onsite restaurant was a Denny's and yes, their meals are overpriced but our breakfast was included in our... more

I had the opportunity to stay at BW Irazu for four nights my last visit to Costa Rica. I will say the service was good and the facilities were clean and adequate. In the rest of categories it was lacking. I can not give a Hotel a three star or above rating that does not offer a quality restaurant on... more

We stayed in Best Western Irazu July 2008, in the beginning and then again in the end of our 3 week Costa Rican tour (a family vacation), 2 + 2 nights. I would say the hotel was okay, certainly a safe and easy if not very interesting choice for landing into Costa Rica. The first room, facing to the garden,... more
