My boyfriend and I happened upon Casa Colon while wandering up from the Tica Bus station, which is only a few blocks away. We took a dorm-style room, which sported comfortable and clean bunk beds, for right around $15 USD per night per person. The staff was always available, and always friendly and ready to help. They recommended to us... More

Casa Colon was a great spot! Very nice, clean and modern. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Another bonus, the food is delicious and not ridiculously priced. I would recommend to anyone traveling through San Jose.

Stayed one night in a double room with private bathroom. Building itself is really cool design. Room was seriously tiny with a window into the hall where the shared bathrooms were so rather noisy. Bed was terrible I was convinced it was going to fall apart every time we rolled over. Staff were polite but not overly helpful. Location convenient,... More

I was heading to another hostel in central San Jose when this place caught my eye; it did look like a rather expensive hotel, but it said 'hostel' so I thought I could as well check it out. I was impressed by the beautiful interior and that they offered hostel rooms for a rate that seems the norm in San... More

A very good hostel option if you are many who travel and want to be together. Cozy with slightly old-fashioned style f.ö clean and fresh. Walking distance to everything you need.A short taxi ride then you are at the airport in San Jose.

We stayed one night after flying in from New York and getting the bus out the next day. We had a double room for $55, which actually had 2 double beds in it. It was pretty clean and had a TV and air con, but no windows, which made it a little charmless. The shared bathrooms were not too bad,... More

This is hostel is very friendly, clean, secure and really unique! The architecture is awesome. Hard to believe its a hostel, really. Location is also pretty great. They have a restaurant on site, and several nearby. I stayed here a couple of nights and my friends who live in CR only stay here when they come to San Jose. Try... More

The architecture that still retains the colonial style hostel is from 1945, we try to keep the legacy left grandparents. Greetings! More

The hostel is, in most respects, a hotel.. It has the largest width beds, and the most comfortable mattresses, of any hostel to date in my experience in Central America. Centrally situated on a main city thoroughfare, and near international and intercity bus terminals. Pedestrian shopping street is only four blocks away, and many food options are within a ten... Stayed here a few times. It's clean, safe and the location is great if your using ticabus (only 5 minutes walk from the terminal). There are cash machines right across the street too. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful and they all spoke good English if need be.

I had not planned to stay here however my airline misplaced my bag so I was forced to find accommodation in San Jose for the first night of my trip. The location is perfect, close to the major bus stations, and the interior is stunning. The common room is huge however it feels more like a restaurant/ social space than... More
