I stay at Casa Colon twice a week when in San Jose. They have comfortable beds, restaurant, relaxed bar area, dorm rooms, single rooms, computers with free internet, fast enough wifi. When staying in the dorms, you use communal showers and toilets, and there are enough of those. You dont have to wait in line for a s***, shave and... More

I think that readers should know what to expect when one visits San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica and if one chooses by chance to stay at the hotel Casa Colon. I wrote a review for a famous hotel website and they just prints the first sentence! Firstly San Jose is a dump! There is no reason to visit... More

We arrived after 8 hours on a tica bus, tired and in need of food. The reception were unhelpful-handing us our room key but no staff member seemed to know where our room was?! Eventually found behind the kitchen, stepping over building equipment and a dead cockroach. The wifi was broken (no apology from hotel) and then as we tried... More

After a miserable bus ride from Nicaragua that seemed to take a day longer than planned, we were sooooo relieved when we walked into this place!! I'm rightfully hesitant when it comes to hostels in San Jose after my first talk with a guy that said he even keeps a knife with him in the showers for self defense, but... More

We stayed there one night, it was fine, the room was spacious and clean, we had 2 showers in the bathroom, only one had hot water. The staff is not really friendly or helpful though. The breakfast was okay, but a little more consistent would of been nice.

I've stayed in hostel casa colon twice now and both times I've been blown away by the beautiful building, quiet atmosphere, and friendly staff. While is a little more costly than most hostels, it is well worth it and I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone.

Dispite no hot water working, noisy walls and a mediocre breakfast this hostl scored very well. The hostel has great rooms, well working wifi, big tv, nice staff, good atmosphere and fantastic location. I would recommend staying here.

We paid for the best room" "the superior " but we spent the night in the Inferior one. The alleged Superior room was already given to some else, despite we paid for it two weeks before our arrival. Then, tired, hungry after 8 hours on the airplane,we decided to take whatever. Big mistake....the room was infested with cucrachs , the... More

Well the title pretty much says it all, having been a former hostel manager and working in the backer tourism market for many years I had to think long and hard if I have ever seen a nicer hostel out of the many hundreds that I have visited. Simply put the aesthetics of this hostel are sublime, from the art... More

I have travelled far and wide in Central America and always stay at hostels. I actually live in Playa Manuel Antonio and come occassionally to San Jose and spend the night. I somehow missed this one...and was glad I found it. I just happened to be passing by on Paseo Colon going to another hostel when I saw Casa Colon... More
