This property is absolutely gorgeous. It featured very comfortable guest rooms, beautiful views, and excellent, friendly staff. My husband and I took a delightful stroll through the neighbourhood and felt completely safe. We dined in the on site restaurant and everything was fresh, delicious and satisfying... not a single complaint from me. I highly recommend and can't wait to return.

The Grand Tara hotel is located in the area of Excauzu just outside Costa Rica's capital of San Jose. Situated on a hill, the hotel offers panoramic views of the entire city. Enjoy a wonderful meal while taking in one of the most amazing views you can imagine. Once a majestic plantation home, the estate is now home to one... More

The good: Beautiful place, inside and out. Warm, friendly, helpful, fluent in English staff. Good wi-fi. Good coffee. Provide taxi rides to town for tour pickup. Quiet. Clean. The meh: It's far away from anything meaning taxis...or rent a car. The tours won't pick you up from the hotel. Restaurant didn't open for us to sample. Details: Soon after finding... More

Having stayed at this establishment 5 times over the past 12 years, as before, we enjoyed the hotel and stayed in one of the out lying rooms which is our preference. The view is breathtaking overlooking the San Jose valley. The staff, especially (Sergio and Frederico) was excellent and met our every need. The spa experience was with Elana was excellent... More

My husband and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon on Jan. 1-3. The building, rooms and view were beautiful. I loved the details like gorgeous hardwood floors throughout and actual metal keys with the name of our room engraved on the keychain! But, it's set off by itself so you don't really have much choice but to stay... More

This hotel was one of the best experiences during our trip through Costa Rica. The building is stunning and the view.... just wonderfull! You can see the whole of San Jose without hearing the noise! The food was great and everybody was very friendly. We got a realy nice room with a small balcony. It was elegantly furnished and the... More

The Building and views are outstanding but sadly that's where it stops. We had flown 18 hours and when we arrived at 10pm we was told the Restaurant was closed but we could order a drink from the bar, exhausted, we went straight to bed. The room was huge but very dated and the toiletries dispenser was empty. We spent... More

My husband and I stayed for two nights with our kids, ages 5 and 8. The hotel was not full so we were upgraded to two joining rooms which was a pleasant surprise. Pros: The hotel itself is stunning, the views from the room balconies are breathtaking, The decor and feel of the hotel is very quaint and you disconnect... More
