My husband and I wanted an overnight get away while the kids were at camp. We arrived early in the morning for the mangrove tour with Bernard. What an incredibly delightful person. I don't know if it was his lighthearted laugh or the smooth kayak skimming through the water which completely won us over. We loved the kayak tour. We... More

Words like quaint, rustic, bungalows, cabins, and lodge tend to be words for small and in disrepair-in real estate. Quaint, rustic and lodge are very appropriate words for this place, in a good way. If you want to stay in the Quepos area without the issues of being in town, this is the place. It IS off the beaten path... More

My wife & I were fortunate to meet the owners & go for a tour on the mangroves. We had a wonderful time & saw many animals. The owner, who also doubles as the tour guide, was so nice & he knew a lot about the area & the animals. His wife was so sweet. If you are ever in... More

We stayed for one night, it was great. The host was such a sweet woman. I planned the trip and our kayak tour with her husband who is bilingual. Our host understood limited english but was so pleasant it didn't matter! It felt like she really cared about us and wanted us to enjoy our time. We were set up... More

Small, basic but clean rooms; location is away from the touristy Quepos. Service was excellent, the owners are wonderful. Breakfast is pretty basic but definately enough. You can rent the kayak/ boat tour from here. The only inconvenience: the walls are a bit thin so you might hear what the other guests are talking in the room next door. All... More

Very grateful for your review, it has been an alert to Kayak Lodge. We know that it is impossible to claim that the sound pass through the walls, since these are structural reinforced concrete block premium. Today we made acoustic test and found that indeed no sound comes through the wall, but rather by the ceiling level that is open... More

Wow! We rented a car and travelled San Jose - tamarindo - Nosara - samara - uvita and montezuma. Kayak lodge was such a relief from the gringo fever foreign owned spots. Here we stayed with two of the most endearing people I have EVER met. We were met with so much love and gratitude, served magnificent homemade breakfast each... More

So glad we stayed at the Kayak Lodge. Marlene and Bernard, the owners, are lovely and treated us like family. The property is lovely and we saw so many animals and birds! Monkeys, iguanas, hummingbirds and butterflies are plentiful, right outside your door! Marlene is so warm, welcoming and sweet. As with some other reviewers, we went at the end... More

My husband and I heard about the Kayak Lodge from a friend. It is owned by a husband and wife team, Bernard and Marlene. We booked our stay over email for 6 nights in July 2014. Since we were traveling there for our honeymoon, staying for 6 nights, and booked so far in advance, Bernard upgraded our room from the... More

When we found this place, we were on the road on a holiday and all hotel in the area were full. They had open rooms and took us in with open arms. The owners were wonderful, kind people and made us feel right at home. If you are looking for fancy, this is not for you, but if you want... More
