The place was a good intro for the Corcovado park tour since it's completely surrounded by nature. The room was confortable, with ac. Forget about the wi fi since it's only available in the lobby. As you are in the middle of the forest don't be surprised with Mosquitos.

Our stay at La Chosa del Manglar turned out to be a complete nightmare! During our stay the night guard broke into our cabin several times. As a reaction to this theft we got insulted, treated very aggressively and accused of being frauds by the owners. I came to Puerto Jimenez to do fieldwork for my master thesis. Before arriving... I am not going to dignify this diatribe by responding in a public manner to something that is presently under police investigation, other than to say that things are not always what others would have you believe. Fraudulent activity by guests and or employees is never appreciated and will be dealt with aggressively, so if you think you can do... More

We (two couples) from Zancudo thoroughly enjoyed our brief overnight stay at La Chosa del Manglar. Staff were extremely helpful and courteous throughout our stay. The rooms were most comfortable (air-conditioning provided which we appreciated) and evenings were nice and quiet being that we were situated in a particularly lovely area of the Osa Peninsula. Would go back to La... More

I stayed here a week, which was 6 days too long. There're are birds, monkeys and iguanas to see. However the places a close to the airport road and gets a coating of dust from all the vehicles driving by. Wifi does not work in them rooms, but does work in the common area. The plumbing is not vented and... More

Randy first of all let me say that i am truly sorry that we did not live up to your expectations. It's very unusual for one of our guests to spend an entire week at la Chosa and then later complain about their stay. I checked with both receptionists on duty and both state that they never received any complaints... More

We spent 10 wonderful days that La Choza Del Manglar. Having only spent time in tropical countries on resorts we were not too sure how we would find ourselves in the quiet rain forest of the OSA Peninsula. We were so surprised by our experiences there. It was truly a trip of a life time, we only wished we stayed... More

This truly is, a splendid oasis. As always, I was unsure what to expect as reviews in their own right are helpful but until you're actually present, you don't really know a place. I arrived from the cool, rainy cloud forest that day (Santa Maria del Dota) en route to Corcovado and Sirena Ranger Station. When I got to the... More

Constance thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I am sure it will be read many times over the next few months. It's always such a nice way to start the day when one can read such wonderful words concerning a guests visit to La Chosa del Manglar. I lived on site for 10 years... More

Happy with the stay ... red lourde parrots and guan in the trees, capuchin monkeys doing high-spirited stuff. Grand murals everywhere, including throughout the cabin. Service is minimal and 'not even bread' is the stated provision for breakfast (there's a pot of coffee, and water for tea comes hot from a tap). Handy for the airport and there are provisions... In my 3 weeks in Costa Rica this was definitely the best place I've stayed! When I arrived I was the only guest in the hostel (early season). Andrew, the Scotish owner of the hostel, showed me around in the lovely garden and made me feel at home. He is an great guy and knows a lot of the wildlife... More

The hotel is located close to the airstrip, between the centre and the beach. The surroundings are amazing and you hear birds and monkeys in the garden. There is no breakfast in the hotel but they have a common kitchen that can be used. The rooms are small and basic with hot water. The personel is very friendly and helpful.... More

We had a great trip in Costa Rica and to honoust, there was only one place that we almost left instantly, La Choza del Manglar in Puerto Jimenez... The place looks like a wasteland.. La Choza del Manglar has been described many ways over the years but this is the first time that it has been called a wasteland. I have no idea how this word was chosen but it is not accurate in the least. Read the rest of the reviews to get an accurate idea of what La Choza is all about,... More
