I went to Lapa Rios with my adult children, the first time we have all been together like this in many years. Almost everything about the trip was flawless, from the accommodations to the local tour guides, the food, and the service. There are 16 bungalows at Lapa Rios, with fantastic views, and complete privacy. Every morning we awoke to... more

We went to Lapa Rios with wide eyes and high expectations, especially after reading all the glowing reviews. In short, while we did not have a horrible time, it certainly didn't meet our expectations and we ended up disappointed we'd chosen to spend our honeymoon there. To start, the trip out there right now is A LOT of effort. The... more

After disboarding from a twin-prop airplane, landing on air strip bordered by a cemetary, I was a little wary of my decision to visit this part of Costa Rica. The Lapa Rios staff met us as we got off the plane, put us into a Land Cruizer Destroyer and drove us to one of the coolest locations I could have... more

My husband and I just returned from 6 nights at Lapa Rios and we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the friendly staff, delicious food, gorgeous scenery, abundant wildlife, and comfortable and luxurious (especially for the rainforest) lodging. We loved it! We have stayed at many lovely places (Camp Denali, Post Ranch Inn, Hotel Hana-Maui, etc) and this lodge ranked... more

Althought our travel agent had a difficult time contacting Lapa Rios, the place was amazing and we can't wait to go back! We did their honeymoon package and have amazing pictures and stories to tell. There are a lot of bugs around, but you get used to it after about a day. The staff was amazing and would go out... more

We flew to Lapa Rios from Arenal and were transfered by the Lapa Rios shuttle directly to the property - about 45 minute bumpy ride on unpaved roads. We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend to most! It was extremely peaceful and relaxing and we could barely keep our eyes open past 9pm each night (we are age 29... more

Our family of four with girls 8 and 14 thoroughly enjoyed Lapa RIos. It does fit the bill as an "ecolodge." Not luxurious but very comfortable with gorgeous views. The facilities are all very open air. We enjoyed the feel of the Main Lodge with its soaring roof and circular stairwell. The staff made us comfortable from the moment we... more

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our trip around CR. We had an initial problem with our bungalow - we had emailed and requested a room near the main building due to health problems and we had been given one of the very isolated bungalows at the bottom of the steps, we had to spend a night... more
