We arrived in Costa Rica the summer of 2010. We had an idea of what we wanted to do and where we wanted to stay, but we did not arrange for any accommodations beforehand. We heard of Punta Marenco Lodge from the owner of Cinco Hormingas Rojas, a bed and breakfast in San Jose. We booked the 3 night 4... More

We found Punta Marenco Lodge by surprise and were delighted with the unique environment. This is not a conventional stay, but memorable. Rooms are screened cabins with light and breeze all around you. The food is fine, and meals give guests an opportunity to meet each other. Best are the many walks you can take along the Ara Peninsula shores.... More

We love nature, adventure, hiking, and snorkeling. This place was a gem. Amazing value for what was offered. It was the best part of our 3 week trip, which, along with the Corcovado, included the cloud forest San Gerrardo de Dota, volcan Turrialba, and Puerto Viejo. The staff were knowledgeable especially Mario our guide. The tours were interesting and we... More

We found Punta Marenco to be very relaxing though please take heed of other review mentions of the steep climb up to the hotel from the beach - even without bags it is tough going in the heat and humidity!! We stayed for four nights which was lovely, though three would probably have been adequate as activities are limited. We... More

We just finished our trip to the lodge. Here is what you should expect. The accomodations are pretty basic and the lodge location is a isolated, should if you want a quiet, simple place to spend a few days, then this is it. There is internet and electricity in the evenings, starting around 5 pm. There are no plugs in... More

We found this hotel by accident, while trying to book accommodation at another one of the better known places near Corcovado. What a delightful accident!!! The property is absolutely gorgeous, and the casitas are delightful. Not for the faint of heart, though. Access is only available by water taxi - approx. a 1 hour ride from Sierpe, or 20 minutes... This was the second time I visited Punta Marenco Lodge, last time was at least ten years ago. The good things didn't change, the 'seaside cabin' however was so much better than the primitive cabin we had last time further uphill. I don't think they use these for guests anymore. The cabin is very good, with a nice shower and... More

Definitely one if the best place we have stayed in Costa Rica: the bungalows are simply perfect, the staff is available and friendly and the location is superb. You are not in the Bahia Drake itself (which is quite crowded), but in the middle of the jungle looking the sea from above. Also the food is quite good, considering the... More

Besides being a tropical paradise out of a postcard, the staff is a family dedicated to preserving the natural Costa Rica- a worthy cause at a good price and unforgettable experience. I was only there for two days but managed to join a staff member in morning meditation on the mountain-side with the monkeys, go surfing with a few of... More

This place is paradise, but they do not offer the comforts of the modern world, but what is a little sacrifice of no electricity all day or hot water in your shower, when you are in paradise, I think you should visit this place if you are vacationing in Costa Rica. I recommend you book in Punta Marenco Dot Com... More
