My girlfriend and I stayed in the "Morpho" Room for 4 nights during our 2 week stay in Costa Rica. Mariposario was an absolute "come-to-rest" stay for us! Quick note before I go on: It has a laid-back B&B feel. No shoes, no shirt, no problem is the attitude. Some may not like this, but for most people visiting Montezuma... More

My girlfriend and I stayed in the purple room in Juli. We absolutely loved the nice room with balcony, the great hospitality from Josh, the butterfly garden, the quiet location and the overal atmosphere of the house. And not to forget the adorable cat and the dogs. Great Breakfasts were served in the breakfast room. This was also a great... More

I stayed here with my husband and 2 kids (ages 2 and 7) during a 3 night stay in Montezuma. This was our first time staying at a B&B with our kids and, although I was worried about our kids being loud and annoying others, it was a great experience. Josh and Ryan are great, helpful hosts. They recommended a... More

My husband and I stayed here during our trip to Montezuma in April. It was so nice to be able to visit town easily but come back up the hill, away from town, to relax. It's no problem to walk up the hill (or someone will likely offer you a ride) or a cab is just $4. Josh and Ryan... More

Josh and Ryan were amazing hosts during our stay in Montezuma! They're both so down to earth, willing to answer and help with whatever questions, and provide an awesome breakfast! Arlo, Trevor, and Java also added to our amazing experience, as did the butterfly garden. We can't thank all of you enough for the wonderful service you provided us, THANK... More

Josh and Ryan are excellent hosts. They were able to hook us up to whatever we needed whether it be taxis, yoga, motorbike rentals, or great places to eat. Their daily breakfast was spectacular and included a variety of combinations. The Butterfly Garden was magical and the tour from their very own entomologist, Arlo was such a great addition to... While in Montezuma we stayed at Mariposario from May 22-24 and were throughly pleased. Josh and Ryan were spectacular and super helpful in every way. We especially enjoyed their four legged lovies, Trevor and Java, who both still hold a special place in our hearts. The butterfly garden was also amazing and we were impressed with how knowledgeable and kind... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and like many can attest to, we didn't want to leave! They deserve to always be ranked number one. Josh and Ryan were incredible hosts, super knowledgeable, but overall just give you the authentic Montezuma experience. Gave us directions to a waterfall hike, a long hike along the beaches, yoga opportunities,... More

According to Josh, owner/operator of Mariposario Montezuma Gardens, Pura Vida translate roughly to "It's all good". And he couldn't have been more right on!! The B&B was a pleasant surprise. All the rooms are named after butterflies native to Costa Rica. I was impressed by the color of the Dryadula room which is a spectacular orange so I reserved it... More

We had a 2-week trip to Costa Rica planned and knew we'd be staying on the ocean for much of our stay, so we opted for three nights at the Mariposario while we were in Montezuma. We loved being a little ways out of town so that we could relax and take hikes in the forest. After breakfast (which is... More
