My fiance and I loved the gorgeous landscaping and hotel property at Hotel Horizontes. Our room was very spacious, had a wrap-around deck with a hammock with privacy partitions. Breakfast was wonderful! The pool offered a nice cool-off. Staff was helpful, but slow-to-warm to; Kali offered us a ride to town one morning when we couldn't track down a taxi.... More

The Hotel Horizontes overlooking Montezuma is owned and meticulously managed by a nice German lady called “Birgit.” One can’t help but notice the very Germanic order that presides over the hotel. This atmosphere contrast sharply with the slightly anarchic and disorganized Latino “laissez faire” of the Rican people. Rooms are simple but nice, with large balconies. The hotel is located... More

Recently spent two nights in the extremely quiet and private single home on the property. The beautiful home is very spacious has all the amenities and then some and is surrounded by a well kept landscape and organic garden. We enjoyed each evening in the pool watching the parrots and the monkeys move around the valley below. We look forward... More

My wife and I stayed here for a week over spring break 2013. We were new to Costa Rica but can't wait to return. We had a wonderful week at this hotel, it's a very relaxing spot with a wonderful pool and gardens. Birgit who owns the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our room and the... This is a small, beautiful, quiet hotel on top of a hill in a large and well kept garden. The owner takes good care of her guests, especially as she bakes bread, that you can order for breakfast. The rooms are clean and the set up of the property is very quaint. If you are interested in plants, trees and... More

This hotel was most beautiful hotel of all hotels we've stayed during our one month trip around Costa Rica. Peaceful, clean with awsome tropical garden. Our room was spotless, with our own balcony and a hammock. Try a homemade bread for breakfast, is absolutely delicious! The location is little bit tricky, car is highly recommended or count with long dusty... More

The place was very peaceful and my husband enjoyed listening to the howlers and the birds in the area. The place is set up on a hill that is a bit out of town and not an easy walk especially back to the place since it is all up hill from the center of the village. If you are going... More

Me and my girlfriend spent two weeks in Costa Rica in the summer of 2012 (the two last weeks of July). We started in Santa Elena coming in from Liberia airport and rented a truck to be able to move from one region to another on our own schedule. After spending 3 great days around the Cloud forest, zip lines... More

A place of peace and tranquility just away from the hustle of the main resort.Very high standard and very clean. The slightly elevated location meant a little cooler and much more comfortable. The owner was exceptionally helpful. We were pleased we stayed here rather than the very dusty and sometimes noisy resort front.Lovely open air breakfast area with wonderful views.

Hotel of exceptional high standards.Away from the noise and heat of the centre of the resort.A place to relax either on your personal balcony or by the pool.Much cooler on this hilltop, making the stay much more comfortable. There is a temptation to book a hotel near the beach but please accept our personal experience of staying here that you will enjoy...
