Everything about this place was great. The food, people, rooms, location. But they tell you not to drink the water and will offer to fill up your bottle with filtered. I was there with a bunch of other people and we all took them up on that. 8 of us got sick; fever, the runs, the whole nine yards. Way... More

HungryBeagle, thanks for your positive remarks about our hotel and restaurant. Naturally, I am surprised that you experienced a problem with our water so I took the time to investigate and here is my response: The water source for El Sano Banano and most other establishments in Montezuma are maintained and serviced by the town's local water association. This likewise... More

If you are looking for a clean and simple place to stay right in the heart of Montezuma, but have to stay on a budget this hotel is a great option. The rooms are very clean and the staff is great! I have read reviews that say no windows, we were given a room with a window that went right... More

We didn't have windows in the room which was a little odd for three people (and using the restroom). But cheap and centrally located, delicious breakfast in the morning and wifi in the rooms. Service was great, just know that Montezuma is very touristy. Id recommend looking into Santa Teresa instead and stopping by Montezuma.

This hotel is located right downtown in Montezuma. The rate is extremely reasonable but the rooms are lacking in comfort. The rooms are very small and up a really steep staircase (hard for us to lug our suitcases) and no elevator. The nicest feature of this hotel is that you are allowed to use their sister hotel's beautiful pool area... More

Great option for travelers on a tight budget. The place is located right down town, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are pretty standard but clean and cute. The restaurant is conveniently located downstairs and they have movie time during the weekend (thats when i was there). One great amenity is the use pool at the Ylang... More

The hotel was in a great location for Montezuma - we walked out the door and the beach and attractions were right there, but it stayed quiet at night. The restaurant downstairs was super cute and the food was good (breakfast was included). They had an organic juice bar that was delicious but expensive, as was some of the other... More

After visiting Montezuma nearly 20 times since 2001, we finally stayed at El Sano Banano - as we were on a last minute trip to the area over New Year's. I was hesitant because of the potential noise in Montezuma center - and was thrilled when we went to sleep at around 1:30 am New Year's eve, and could barely... More

We stayed at El Sano Banano for two nights after our yoga retreat in Montezuma. The rooms are simple and clean and there is plenty of hot water for the shower. We walked to the pool at Ylang Ylang two or three times which is fun. The restaurant has raw food which we ate for all our meals. Thank you... More

I would not recommend staying here. The rooms are very tiny (1 single & 1 double bed with just enough room to walk around them). All 4 walls & the ceiling are stuccoed concrete. There are 2 small windows that look onto the concrete hallway wall. The rooms are above the restaurant. Every night they play really loud movies -... More

Melanie, I am very surprised by your very critical review. First, you are obviously unaware that there are 12 rooms in the hotel and each is different. Most have views outdoors and some do not. Likewise, most of the rooms are not above the restaurant and the ones that are only have a small amount of sound leakage that only... More

The staff was as friendly as could be, the location was perfect, and the use of the expensive resort was a nice perk.wi-fi is awful in certain rooms. Works fine in the bar and restaurant. Restaurant did not serve me a bad meal in my 10 days I stayed.
