We stayed at El Sano Banano for 3 nights in August 2015. The back garden is really enjoyable, and the staff is nice. However, breakfast is cheap and small, and the rooms look like bunkers (small, super low ceilings, many rooms without proper windows, "hospital-like" light). It would be OK if it wasn't overpriced. You can in principle use the... More

Dear Luigi, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We were surprised to read your review considering you came as a walk in and were showed 4 different rooms before choosing which room you wanted to stay in. You did not pay before you were shown the rooms and could have easily decided that this was not... More

We stayed in Montezuma around the end of June, early July for about 4 nights. Arriving at El Sano Banano it seemed everything we needed and wanted: a clean room, A/C, a clean bathroom and parking space for the car. The breakfast that was included in the price seemed a nice bonus. The rooms were sort of prison cell like,... More

Dear Linori, I would like to start by saying that most of your concerns and complaints are issues with our policies. Our policies are made quite clear on our confirmations when guests book in advance. So yes, you are correct that when you make your reservation in advance you will get a set price for your entire stay and more... More

Clean, friendly and sister resort with pool privileges at Ylang Ylang Resort. Free movies if you stay or have at least a dessert. The food is good, plenty of it and bfast comes with your stay. The only issues we had were internet at the far end of the hallway upstairs (tho the room was quiet which we asked for)... More

Stayed at the hotel for two nights while traveling down the Nicoya. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. Location is good as well. Hubert, not sure of the spelling, was a great bartender. Definitely ask for an Hubert Special!

This was a wonderful hotel in a unique place. We arrived tired after driving our 4WD in the dark after the ferry. This hotel was a really welcoming refuge and we loved the rooms. We were offered a range of rooms some with windows none with great views but we opted for the large one with no window as it... More

My husband & I had a stayed at the El Sano Banano Village Hotel the week of April 6th, 2015. We loved it, we highly recommend it, & we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again when in Montezuma! Because we hadn't booked ahead we needed to change rooms half way through our stay, which gave us the opportunity to try... More

However, I didn't like the parking restrictions. It is limited and they do not assure you a space if you live the hotel for some hours. Birds steal food when eating at the terrace; so do not eat there there because you keep hungry until buy something new to eat.

Normally the hotels recommended in lonely planet are reliable. This place was not really clean, had horrible bathrooms and our rooms didn't even have windows. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone. There are much better accommodations to choose from.

Dear Nora, Thank you for your response. First of all, we have gone through all of our records to try to find your reservation and have no record of you staying with us during that time or any other dates. We also were not able to find such a serious complaint during that time either. We have no record of... More

My wife and I stayed three nights. Centrally located and delicious breakfast options included with nightly rate. Get the fresh fruit or huevos rancheros. Interior and exterior seating choices were nice to have depending on how we felt. Hang out at the bar and watch a nightly movie if you want. Staff were genuinely friendly. Especially Kevin who made us... More

Costa Rica hotels with higher prices generelly have their issues and the price level in Montezum is a topic for its own, so I will not comment on this. I stayed alone in a a room intended for 2 or 4 guests so for me the room size was ok. What I want to comment on however is the attitude... More

Dear Philipp Beyer, We appreciate your feedback and comments about our hotel. We believe that our prices are more than fair for a safe, clean and comfortable environment. You would be hard pressed to find the same quality in the center of Montezuma. In regards to your comments on breakfast, thank you for mentioning the high quality of our food.... More
