The cabins we stayed at were rustic, but comfortable. The bathrooms need renovation, the tubs were possibly from the 50s'. Very peaceful place, in the middle of a selvatic area, with a path behind the cabin that can be walked all the way to the front desk, listening to the birds and hollering monkeys. The restaurant was modest but teh... more

I loved this little hotel! While it is by no means a resort, and there were only a few other people staying there when I visited in April, I loved the small town, friendly feel of this place. It is a little ways up a gravel road off one of the main roads in Santa Elena, so it's far enough... more

Nice wood built casita's, each with two rooms. Placed in forest area where monkeys and other wildlife travel through a couple of times per day. There is also a larger building with some more rooms. Mostly used for tour groups. The hotel staff said they intend to build 20 more casita's in 2008. Good restaurant, however with high ceiling setting... more

First Recommendation: I am a tuff grader! And, I highly recommend you eat at the ‘on-site’ restaurant. We found the prices for the food very reasonable. Especially considering the quality and quantity served. We did eat in town, it was fine, and the food good for the price charged. However, we found no restaurant during our 8-day trip around Costa... more

Not bad. The service in the restaurant was excellent, but the rooms were a bit musty. Sheets were clean though. However, they charged us two nights for one night. We haven't heard from them yet. more

This hotel is in a great location just outside of Santa Elena. You can easily walk to the Santa Elena restaurants, shops, cab stand. It is tucked in the woods on a hill. They have done some nice landscaping along the paths and the cabins look rustic and quaint from the outside. They give you a key attached to a... more

The place is tucked away from the road, and one has to hike up to the cabins, so it is not very accessible, especially at night. It had this feel of a convent, especially in the dinning area. The cabin is funky, it had too many beds, and two showers in the bathroom. I could smell the cigarette smoke from... more

This place was okay. On the negative side: part of the path to our cabin was dark at night. There was a light fixture there, but no light bulb wiring (from what I could tell) and of course no light bulb! I got creative and used my cell phone as an impromptu flashlight!!! Also, the cabins were rustic...almost a little... more

The property at the Finca Valverde was very pretty and gave the feeling of being in the rainforest. The rooms on the other hand, need some help. There was a very musty unpleasant smell throughout the room. The blankets smelled like mildew and the beds were not comfortable. The bathroom and shower did seem clean and there was hot water.... more

Loved this hotel....arrived in the dark so was not able to comprehend what it looked like. We had two very tiny doubles (1 double bed and a loft with a single) that were close to reception. There was very little room for one person let alone two people. We decided to upgrade to a junior suite ( a little ways up... more
