I love this place. I visited with a study abroad group from my university, total there are 26 people in my group who made this their home. There is wifi, walking distance to town (shops, bank, bars, café, etc) and the staff are wonderful ladies. If you are in the region, it is very comfortable and I always have warm... More

Stayed here for 2 nights while in Monteverde. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk into the center of town. There are a few restaurants and a small store only a couple minutes away. My room consisted of 3 single beds. It was a good size room and fairly clean. The hot water in the shower was hit or... More

Montervede is a spectacular place. We stayed in this hotel as a base to do the wonderful things like zip lining and to be in the rain forests. Wonderful. The hotel is quaint, but we were really put off by the cockroaches in the fridge, and how the owner just sprayed the whole fridge with food in it with bug... More

An amazing hotel, really accommodating on your needs. I understand many peoples confusion derives from the fact none of the employees speak English. But a little goes a long way. Rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel was beautifully laid out on two floors. I also loved the fact the walls were thin so if you were going with your... More

Background: Trudging along on a 3-week volcano trek across Central America, our tour group spent a couple of nights here in Santa Elena Monteverde as a base to explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve in Costa Rica. Among the relatively few B & B's in the area, it is rated as a 2-star accommodation. First Impressions: The average-looking glass and... More

This is a family owed "bed and breakfast" with exceptionally clean rooms, friendly staff/owners, and great home cooked meals. All the rooms are within a main hall, but the place was fairly quiet, the showers hot, and internet (albeit slow) available in the main areas. I was traveling with a group, but I would actually chose to stay here if... More

This hotel has paper thin walls, and you can clearly hear all the conversations and foot traffic from everyone in the hotel, so expect to wear ear plugs while you sleep. The only windows that had a purpose was a tiny one in the bathroom then a larege window that opens to the hallway. The location was fine, no noise... More

Travelling through Costa Rica, I have been to a number of hotels but this is by far the worst. If you like peace and quiet, forget about it here. The walls are PAPER thin, as if they are not even there. You can hear the guy in the room next to you clipping his toe nails, and the people below... More

To be honest, we did not know what to expect. We booked into El Amanecer when another reservation in Monte Verde fell though and we were left struggling to find a room during Samana Santa. We knew only that it would be rustic and that our host did not speak English. We were pleasantly surprised. El Amaecer is rustic but... More
