This hotel was a great find, and true value for the area. The hotel is perfectly located - close enough to the beach and Quepos, but far enough from each of their hustle and bustle. It's located in the perfect middle, near other hotels and restaurants so you don't have to drive. But you do need to drive, or get... More

We stayed at the Mandarina for two nights. The room was nice (fan and A/C both worked) and had a safe and TV. The bathroom had a curtain instead of a door, but it was fine. The staff was great and really helped you determine what to do when to make the most of your visit. We hiked to Manuel... More

We went to the Manuel Antonio area without any reservations. We tried a few places, but none were up to our standards in cleanliness or technology capabilities. La Mandarina was recommended to us by another hotel, classifying it as gay-friendly. The accommodations were comfortable, but the in-room Wi-Fi was spotty at best. You need to be agile as the only... We stayed at the hotel in May and we loved it. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the lady at the reception (I'm sorry I didn't catch your name!), she showed us where we were located in relation to all the main attractions and gave us a map. There were also beach towel available in reception for no... More

We stayed here 3 years ago and loved it so when we came back we booked this hotel again. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. The rooms are clean and well appointed, although there are a lot of stairs. We went in the rainy season and there was a faint musty smell but not too bothersome. The internet was... More

We arrived much earlier than check in time so we were given a place to leave our things which was nice. We were also given free breakfast which was fantastic after the long drive from the airport. The food and service was excellent! Our room was nice and the grounds are pretty. There were monkeys on our roof and above... More

We recently spent a week at the Mandarina and loved it. Its location on the main road was perfect for us. It is a short walk to the bus stop that will take you directly to the beach or to Quepos, but the rooms are set back from the road so they're quiet. There's a small but well-stocked grocery right... I booked this place based on the fact that it had great value for its money, a swimming pool, breakfast and a good location. The place is somewhat hidden and doesn't show what it truly is like. Rooms are spacious, have great air conditioning and I loved the size of the bed. Great sleep quality!!! additionally the swimming pool is... More

the hotel it's well located, although it's not a ocean view hotel, it's very closed to the town Quepos and the Natural Park Manuel Antonio, and it's walking distance from a lot of good restaurants and bars in the area. The hotel infrastructure it nice, and the rooms are very comfortable, but the best thing is the service, the front... More

This is a very good hotel: few rooms, swimming pool, snookers and fitness equipment (a little bit old, yes), breakfeast outside surrounded by trees, very clean rooms and calm... and not very expensive for the area. + the supermarket just in front open every day AND best restaurants around. You really need to go there.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Mandarina is a small boutique hotel . It has a history in Manuel Antonio since the early 1990's. It has previously been known as Hotel El Dorado Mojado and Hotel Kekoldi. In 2007, the 12 unit hotel has been given the new name, Hotel Mandarina. Mandarina is known as a small orange, like a tangerine, in Costa Rica.Hotel Mandarina is located in Manuel Antonio, just outside the small Pacific coast port town of Quepos. See map. We are at the highest elevation on the main road about halfway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. If you chose to drive, you can park your rental car in our secure lot behind the reception building. Manuel Antonio is only 3 1/2 hours by car or bus from San Jose, so long as you take the shortest route. Faster yet, is a 20 minute plane ride from San Jose on Nature Air or Sansa Airlines. Quepos and Manuel Antonio are fairly easy to navigate since there are only a few main roads. We are just 1.2 miles (2 Km) from some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica with the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park at the end of the main road. A twenty minute walk down the secondary road from the hotel will bring you to a secluded beach. The local bus stops 50 yards from the hotel and brings you to the main beach or Manuel Antonio National Park in 5 minutes. ... more   less
