The minute three friends and I arrived at Vista Serena, we knew we weren't going to be leaving as planned. What was supposed to be a two day stay turned into a week long stay for most of us, and a nearly one month-long stay for myself. The staff here is incredible, all of them very helpful and friendly. This hostel by far had the most scenic view of any we stayed at in Costa Rica. This was the last of six hostels on our two week trip. The views were breathtaking!! And the staff were amazing! Leah gave us a very thorough tour, introduced us to other folks, and gave us detailed directions for catching the bus and... More

Although a bit of a walk from the beach, but a cheap, short bus ride, this place is worth the quiet and the view. Rooms were intimate and had AC. Full kitchen area and grill for all to use. Great sitting area looking out over the hillside and into the ocean. Leah helped me plan a fabulous tour through the... More

A friendly hostel in Manuel Antonio, with beautiful views of the jungle and the sea. Very helpful staff, they gave us great tips where else to go in Costa Rica, and even helped us book boats and hostels. The park was ca.30 minutes walking, but there is also a bus that takes you there. It was raining a lot during... More

Serena hostel boasts a relaxed, open, welcoming vibe. Great staff and stunning views - to be enjoyed from one of the many balcony hammocks! It's close to the bus stop that gets you to manuel antonio national park, and walking distance to a grocery store - which I recommend checking out as cooking your meals at the hostel is easy... I stayed two nights here at the weekend with a group aged 18-25. Good: Friendly staff Chilled vibe Good facilities eg. Wifi, Hammocks, Computers, TV Great views Within five minutes walk of supermarket and bus to park/beach Bad: 18 man dorm when full and after rain, resembles a Japanese POW camp Expensive on site restaurant Overall I would recommend this... First of all, let me say that Quepos/ Manuel Antonio is a very touristic area, crowded with travellers. Despite the amount of tourists, the surroundings are stunning and definitely worth a visit! Also good to know: it can get incredibly hot in Manuel Antonio, with little change of cooldown in the evening or at night. The room we stayed in... More

The view is the highlight of the hostel !!! the rooms were okay but y have to share the bathroom with max. 10 others, so it can be a bit stressful in case. The rooms were clean. You have also the possibility to cook your own meal. On our visit the kitchen was a bit "unclean" but not bad, it... More

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel. The room was very inexpensive, the view gorgeous, and the workers accommodating and helpful. The beach and national park are just a short bus ride away (or walk, though I wouldn't recommend it what with the hills and heat, particularly if you're out of shape like, er, yours truly!) Some good, cheap... More
