I found this hostel by chance after meeting a friend of the owners in Tamarindo. She recommended it to me and then mentioned me to Alisha (the owner). I heard from them a few days later and decided this would be where I stayed. Alisha and Corey were GREAT and the property AMAZING. Everyone there was welcoming and friendly. They... More

A group of 8 of us stayed here over the weekend after researching the web for nice clean hostel. What we found at Hostel Plinio was a hidden gem. The property itself was beautiful. About 8 minutes by taxi from Quepos and a 15-20 minute bus ride to Manuel Antonio, it's close to both towns and the bus stop is... More

I stayed at Hotel Plinio for 3 nights in April of 2013. Me and my friends checked out 3 other places before arriving to Plinio. Nothing compares. When you walk up to Plinio, it just feels right. We were greeted warmly by the owners Corey and Alisha. The place itself is huge and open and cools down very nicely at... More

I checked out 3 other hostels in Manuel Antonio before coming to Plinio. I was afraid at first because it clearly states it doesn't have AC or wifi in the rooms. I am so glad I made it to Plinio. This hostel is seriously the best in town! The rooms are huge and open air (while still keeping the bugs... More

I loved staying here! After staying at a lot of really cramped hostels, Plinio was a relief. The shared dorms are each 3 floors and are really open and airy with fans so I never felt too hot. The mattresses were a little thin though :/ It's nice that there is a restaurant right there and a pool. The kitchen... More

Before booking this hostel I had wondered why I could find so few recent reviews online. It turns out that this property used to be a hotel, but has since been transformed into hostel plinio and reopened within the last few months. The location is good- along the main route toward Manuel Antonio national park and there is a bus... More

I was intrigued by the 3floor dorm that is offered. It was really open with lots of airflow. The first floor is a living room and bathroom. The second is a form room and the third is a balcony /deck with swings! The owners are fun, respectful and very responsive. There are a few kinks that they are working out... More

This hostel is an old hotel so the rooms are large, the pool is gorgeous, and there is lots of open space, all at hostel prices. Even the kitchen is outside with a nice breeze. Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hostel Plinio is one of the newest additions to the hostel scene in Manuel Antonio and is one of the oldest hotel properties in the area. In the early 80's when Plinio was built there was no road leading to the property, only a small dirt path. The materials used to build the original structure were taken from the surrounding jungle or brought in by foot. This type of construction made for magnificent wood work and a truly natural vibe. In fact, in the hotels early years it was precisely that natural, secluded feel that attracted characters such as Timothy Leary. Plinio was one of Mr. Leary's Jungle hide aways and once you've experienced this historic location for yourself, it's not hard to imagin why. Open air, beautiful dark wood, jungle life, a mountain breeze, ocean views, convenient location, a rich history, and an unshakably deep feeling of relaxation makePlinio a very, very special find.Today, Plinio is a staple in the Manuel Antonio community and a place for locals and travelers to enjoy. The property features a hostel, a restaurant and bar, a deep pool, a scuba school, and a studio space for classes and events. The accommodations at Hostel Plinio all include a Continental breakfast and range greatly with the intention of being suitable for travelers on every kind of budget. Each of the two dorms feature three stories, spacious sleeping areas, a bathroom, lockers large enough to fit your whole pack, powerful wall and ceiling fans, hard wood floors, ocean and jungle views, and outdoor patios. For a more private stay, travelers may choose from 4 styles of rooms. The grandest suite features three stories, a private living room, private bathroom, two king beds, spectacular ocean views, and 2 private outdoor patios including a third story observation terrace. ... more   less
