My wife and I stayed in a studio room for 6 nights in April. It was the best hotel experience we've ever had. Pros: -stunning view, just incredible. You will never just get used to it. -room was beautiful with floor to ceiling windows facing the ocean -breakfast is personally delivered to your room after you order off menu by... More

Where do I start? This was an amazing place to stay in the Quepos area, tucked away off a twisty road. My bf and I stayed in Villa 7 for 3 nights, which is right under the pool area. Granted there are a lotttt of steps, so I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who is disabled or just plain... More

We loved our room with a beautiful view of both the jungle and ocean. Loved the architectural details of the wood and glass doors you could throw open to the outside. The fans and air conditioning assured you were going to be comfortable. So did the bed and sofa and the hammock that had my name on it. You do... More

My wife and I stayed at Makanda for nine days. Our typical day started at 6:00 A.M. We would take a walk on the resorts property and wait see white faced monkeys coming down from the hill above. Just walk to the center of the property and listen, the monkeys make a lot of noise crashing through the trees. Occasionally... More

We loved the hotel. The jungle feel and ocean view. Some things to get better: Could be more clean, spiderwebs inside the room The breakfast is included and sent to the room (great touch) but the size of it is very small (bad touch). If you are charging $400 usd for a room, change the box TV for a Flat... More

We just came back from vacationing in Costa Rica and stayed at the Makanda. The service was superb and the food was amazing. Clean, full kitchen not that you would want to cook, but to be able to make a full pot of coffee in the morning was just perfect. Beautiful views of the pacific and we were lucky enough... More

Let me start by saying that my wife and I were off the beaten track for 12 days and then came to Manuel Antonio to have a 5 star lux, on grid experience before going home so we may be a bit tainted. First off, M.A. is so touristy - it's like a prettier cabo or cancun so expect crowds,... More

During our 12 day vacation in Costa Rica, we stayed in 6 hotels. Makanda by the Sea was by far the best hotel! The rooms are set within the jungle with spectacular views. The pool, unlike others, gets deep! there are few guests due to the small size so it is quiet. Also, there are no children allowed. The restaurant... More

My boyfriend and I spent a week at Makanda by the sea and had an amazing time. Before we even arrived, Leo was incredibly helpful in making our reservations and answering my many (many) questions while we decided where to stay. Makanda's property is beautiful, quiet and private. We stayed in Villa 10 and enjoyed the breathtaking view of the... More

During our 21 day honeymoon in Costa Rica we saved The Makanda for our grand finale and we were not disappointed. Our villa was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The staff superb. All of our needs were met. Thank you Leo and Darvin for providing us with A+ customer service. The food, the infinity pool, the activities, the daily... More
